Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old Gordon Petts of #3-125 Gore Street on the 13th of January on outstanding warrants and charged him with one count of assault, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of disguise with intent.   The accused was wanted for allegedly assaulting a male known to him while at a gathering at his residence on the 3rd of January.  Further, the accused was wanted for an alleged theft incident that took place on the 18th of December at the Gore Street Mac’s Mart while his faced was disguised.  The accused was scheduled to appear in bail court on Friday the 13th of January. 

Domestic Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 33 year-old male on the 14th of January at 2:57 pm on an outstanding domestic related warrant and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.00.  It is alleged that on the 12th of January the accused approached his ex-girlfriend while she was walking on Northern Avenue, grabbed her purse and stole her keys from it. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 25 year-old Matthew Wegener of 50 Parker Avenue on the 14th of January on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of fail to appear court.  It is alleged that on the 2nd of March 2010 the accused fail to attend court on an assault charge.  He is now to appear in court on the 6th of February. 

Male Arrested for Residence Break and Enter

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Unit arrested 19 year-old Randy Ingram of 358 Bloor Street West on the 13th of January at 6 pm at his residence and charged him with on count of break and enter.  It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a break and enter that occurred to a residence on Lennox Avenue on the 5th of January where numerous items had been reported stolen.   The accused is to appear in court o the 13th of February. 

Two Males Arrested for Breach of Probation

On the 14th of January at approximately 1:30 am, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance in a parking lot in the 200 block of Northern Avenue East. When officers arrived a male was found in an intoxicated condition and attempting to fight several persons.  When officers ran a check on the male, he was found to be on a curfew probation order with conditions to be in his place of residence at 9 pm. The accused, 19 year-old Jordan Springbett, of 75 Capp Avenue was charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of intoxicated in a public place.  He is to appear in court on the 6th of February.  Another 17 year-old male youth located at the disturbance was also charged with one count of breach of probation for breaching his curfew conditions.  He is to attend court on the 14th of February. 

Youth Charged with Breach of Probation and Drug Possession:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 13 year-old male youth on the 14th of January at the Station Mall and charged him with one count of breach of probation and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.  It is alleged that on the 14th of January the accused was apprehended by Station Mall Security officers for trespassing at the mall.  When police were called the youth was found to be on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be good and was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.  The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of February. 

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • A residence on Shafer Avenue was entered on Saturday.  Cash and jewellery were reported stolen.
  • A residence on Third Line West was entered on Saturday.  Passports and other identification were reported stolen.
  • A residence on Retta Street was entered on Friday.  Jewellery was reported taken.
  • Vehicles were broken into on Patrick Street, Bay Street, and Great Northern Road.  Items stolen included: a Coleman Powermate generator, a GPS and sunglasses.
  • Gas was stolen from a U-Haul truck on Bruce Street Saturday.
  • A handicap parking permit was stolen from a vehicle on Herrick Street.
