Three Persons Arrested for Drug Trafficking

On the 5th of February, 2010, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Street Team, Joint Forces Investigation Unit and the OPP conducted an investigation of drug trafficking. As a result, a female was arrested at 12:30 pm on Brock Street after she was allegedly found in possession of 152 grams of cocaine. At approximately 12:50 pm two males were allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 89 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop on Great Northern Road and they were both arrested. An undisclosed amount of cash was also seized as offence related property.
The following three persons were all charged with one count of one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance:

1) 20 year-old Christine Goodchild of 29 Beaver Crescent in Heron Bay.
2) 46 year-old Myles Robinson of 22 Hilbert Street in Marathon Ontario.
3) 42 year-old Kevin Andrews of #18-5 Mcleod Street in Marathon Ontario.

Male Shoplifter Arrested

40 year-old Alain Chartrand of 352 Cathcart Street (main floor) was arrested on the 5th of February at 5:06 pm at Canadian Tire and charged with one city of theft under $5, 000, 00 and one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that on the 5th of February around 5 pm the accused allegedly stole a Dewalt power tool from the store and when security attempted to apprehend him, he resisted and struggled with the officer.

Male Arrested for Theft at the Essar Centre

26 year-old Raymond Gregoire of 217 Beverley Street (Main Floor) was arrested on the 6th of February at 3:58 pm on Queen Street East and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 6th of February just before 4 pm the accused entered a chartered bus in the parking lot of the Essar Centre and stole a purse. He was apprehended by security officers and held for police. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he stay away from the Essar Centre.

Male Shoplifter Arrested

37 year-old James Syrette of #6-864 Queen Street East was arrested on the 5th of February at 7:50 pm on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 5th of February the accused attended at the Wal-Mart store and stole a number of items and fled on foot from the area. Police were called and located the male in the area of Great Northern Road and Second Line in possession of the stolen property. At the time of the incident, the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in court on the 22nd of March.

Two Persons Arrested and at Canada Customs and Charged with Consuming over the Legal Limit

On the 7th of February two persons were charged with consuming over the legal limit after allegedly failing the roadside screening device breathalyzer tests at Canada Custom on Huron Street.

1) At 12:26 am 59 year-old Bruce McNeely of 83 Taylor Street in Bruce Mines Ontario was arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. Court Date is 8th of March.
2) At 3:06 am 42 year-old Steven Ostroski of 98 St. Georges Avenue East was arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. Court Date is the 8th of March.

Youths Steal Purse from Elderly Female Walking on Gore Street

On the 6th of February at approximately 3 pm an elderly female, walking with the assistance of a walker, had her purse stolen. Three youths, one female and two males were walking in the same area when one of the teen males grabbed her purse out of the walker basket and ran. All three fled on foot towards Queen Street. Officers searched the area for the youths with negative results. The only description at this time is the female was wearing a white coat and all were in their mid teens. The purse contained several pieces of identification, a passport and wallet with a small amount of cash inside, bank and credit cards. The victim was not physically injured.

Break and Enter Reports

• A residence on Glengary Gate Crescent was entered. There was nothing reported stolen.
• A residence in the 1000 block of Fourth Line East was entered. A computer and television were reported stolen.
• A residence on McDougald Street was entered. Cigarettes, a camera and a passport were reported stolen.

Thefts

• Vehicles were entered after some of the windows were reported smashed in the areas of Gloucester Street, Gore Street, Kohler Street, Queen Street East, Hamilton Avenue and Great Northern Road. Some of the items reported taken were a purse, a wallet, a blackberry and a licence plate.
• A Wacker generator was reported stolen on Pine Street.
