The following persons will appear in bail court this morning: 1) A 58-year old female was arrested on the 4th of February just before 2 am and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.
The following persons will appear in bail court this morning:

1) A 58-year old female was arrested on the 4th of February just before 2 am and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her ex-common-law partner by punching, kicking and slapping the victim. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

2) Officers from Investigation Services arrested 55-year old Paul Provincial of 113 Kenogami Road, Longlac, Ontario on the 2nd of February. The accused has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography. The offence took place between January 13th and the 2nd of February 2007 in Sault Ste. Marie.

3) A 48-year old male was arrested and charged on the 3rd of February with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common law-wife by picking her up and shaking her.

4) 38-year old Lisa McNaught of 383 John Street was arrested on the 3rd of February on outstanding warrants from incidents stemming from 2001 to 2006 for failing to appear for court.

5) An 18-year old male was arrested on the 3rd of February and charged with 4 counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). It is alleged that the accused was out on the 3rd of February after his probation curfew hours of 9 pm to 6 am. Officers arrested the accused and charge him with one count of breach of probation and he was released with a court date of March 5th. It is further alleged that on the 3rd of February just after 9 pm officers again arrested the accused for failing to abide by his curfew hours of 9 pm to 6 am and for failing to reside at this address stated on the probation order. He will now appear in bail court this morning.

Drunk Snowmobile Driving

36-year old Travis MacIntosh of 264 Pittsburgh Avenue was arrested on the 2nd of February and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that the accused was operating a snowmobile in the west end of the city in a field when officers from Traffic Services who were out on the police snowmobile stopped him. It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. The accused will appear in court on March 5th.

Impaired Driving

20-year old Samantha Bateman of 905 Pine Street was arrested on the 3rd of February and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of fail to remain at an accident. It is alleged that on the 3rd of February just after 2:30 am the accused was traveling eastbound on Bruce Street in the 400 block and ran into the rear of another car that had slowed to turn into a civic address. It is alleged that the accused fled the scene of the collision and was stopped by officers from Patrol Service on Tilley Road and arrested. It is alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and no one was injured. The accused will appear in court on March 5th.

Break & Enter

On the 2nd of February officers from Patrol Services attended at Lajoie Brothers on Black Road for a report of a break and enter to the compound. The break and enter occurred sometime between the 1st and 2nd of February overnight and a battery and other items were taken.

Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were kept busy on the weekend investigating 33 motor vehicle collisions. Three of them resulted in injuries.

1) On Friday February 2nd officers attended at Douglas Street and McFadden Avenue. A delivery truck was traveling westbound on Douglas Street and a car was traveling eastbound on Douglas Street. The 32-year old driver of the delivery truck swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him and ended up colliding with the car operated by a 33-year old male that was traveling eastbound. The car then hit a stop sign. The driver of the car received non-life threatening injuries. Visibility at the time of the collision was poor due to drifting and blowing snow. The delivery van received moderate damage and the car was demolished. No charges have been laid in the collision.

2) On Saturday February 3rd just after 12 noon a car and a pickup truck were both traveling westbound on Queen Street East in the 1700 block. The 29-year old female driver of the car swerved to avoid a pedestrian who was on the roadway and collided with the pickup truck, which was operated by a 34-year old female. The truck then hit a snow bank. A family member took one of the passengers in the pickup truck to the hospital. No one has been charged in the collision.

3) On Sunday February 4th just before 10 am officers from Traffic Services attended at Carmen’s Way and Albert Street West for a motor vehicle collision that sent 2 people to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A pickup truck operated by a 75-year old male was traveling southbound on Carmen’s Way. A van operated by a 68-year old male was traveling eastbound on Albert Street West and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign and went into the path of the pickup truck. Both vehicles collided and received severe damage. The 68-year old male has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of disobey stop sign-fail to stop.
