Male Charged with Assault A 31-year old male will appear in court this morning. It is alleged that on Friday morning the accused assaulted his girlfriend by grabbing her hand and squeezing it hard. The victim had been holding onto a cell phone.
Male Charged with Assault

A 31-year old male will appear in court this morning. It is alleged that on Friday morning the accused assaulted his girlfriend by grabbing her hand and squeezing it hard. The victim had been holding onto a cell phone. The assaulted also consisted of the accused squeezing the victim’s chest area in an attempt to make her let go to the cell phone, which she eventually did. The incident occurred in a west end residence. The accused was on probation at the time of the offence with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

Male Charged with Forcible Confinement

A 39-year old male will also appear in bail court this morning on domestic related charges. Last night around 11 pm City Police attended at a central area residence and after investigation arrested the male. It is alleged that the male assaulted his common law wife by pushing her and kicking her, and then refused to allow her to leave the residence. The male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement.

Two Counts of Assault Charges Laid

A 28-year old male will also appear in bail court this morning for domestic assault related matters. On Saturday City Police attended at a central area residence around 11 am for an assault complaint. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common law wife by kicking her in the chest and mouth. During the course of the investigation the officers learned that in November the accused assaulted the victim by punching her in the face area. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of assault.

Youths Charged

A 16-year old and a 17-year old youth will appear in court on April 5th after being arrested Friday evening for their involvement in assaulting a male Friday afternoon. It is alleged that the 2 accused persons approached another male outside St. Basil High School and assaulted the victim. It is alleged that the 17-year old youth punched the victim in the head and face area with a closed fist that held a CO2 cartridge. Once the victim was on the ground both accused youths kicked the victim. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time. The youths were arrested later that evening. The 16-year old has been charged with one count of assault. The 17-year old youth has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of release document.

Imparied Driving Charges Laid

On Saturday morning just before 2 am City Police attended in the downtown area after receiving a call from a bar that their security was trying to prevent an intoxicated male from driving away. When officers arrived the accused was just starting to leave the establishment in his vehicle. Officers stopped the truck and found the driver to be displaying signs of impairment. 42-year old Darin Thibodeau of 44 Fournier Road has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on April 4th.

Shoplifting Charges Laid

A 17-year old was arrested on Friday afternoon for shoplifting from Rome’s. It is alleged the youth removed a chocolate bar from the shelf and when the youth went to leave the store they were apprehended by security. The youth assaulted the staff by pulling away from him and punching him in the chest. The youth as been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of assault peace officer. The youth will appear in court on March 29th.

Break and Enter

Yesterday afternoon a homeowner in 100 block of Pittsburgh Avenue returned home to find out their house had been broken into during the afternoon. The thieves made off with jewellery, money and wine.
