Arrest Made in North Street Assault

32 year-old Kimberly William Danz of 438 North Street was arrested at 12:17 pm this afternoon at the city police station after turning himself in. The accused male has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

On the 4th of December between 8:00 – 8:30 pm the 26 year-old male victim was at a gathering at 438 North Street, the residence of the accused. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim after getting into a verbal argument. The victim and accused are known to each other. The 26 year-old male victim received serious head and facial injuries as a result of the assault and was airlifted to St. Joseph Hospital in Sudbury for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and the accused has been remanded into custody and will appear in bail court on Tuesday the 8th of December at 10:00 am.

Break and Enter Report

A residence in the 500 block of Wellington Street East was entered on Saturday evening. A Laptop was reported stolen.

Theft Reports

Vehicles were broken into and gone through on Laura Street, Sussex Street, Turner Avenue and Arden Street. Items reported stolen included a satellite radio, sunglasses, a purse, cash and vehicle papers.

RIDE Results

There were 781 vehicles checked during the RIDE Program on Friday and Saturday evening. Eight roadside tests were administered and no other charges were laid.

Male Arrested for Break and Enter

26 year-old Stephen May of 382 Cathcart Street was arrested on the 6th of December at 9:20 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of break and enter and five counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 6th of December at 9:20 pm the accused entered a residence of a person known to him that he was on probation conditions not to attend. Police found the accused hiding in the crawl space are of the home. The accused was also wanted on outstanding warrants for further breaches of probation. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property:

20 year-old Gilbert Wilson of #11-110 Wilding Avenue was arrested on the 4th of December at 9:10 pm on Wallace Terrace after he was allegedly found by city police operating a motor vehicle on Wallace Terrace that had stolen plates affixed to it. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of probation. He is to attend in court on the 11th of January 2010.

Impaired Driving Arrests

22 year-old Ryan Sherman of 781 Pine Street (basement) was arrested on the 6th of December at 3:05 am on Willow Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 6th of December at 3 am city police observed a vehicle travelling northbound on Willow Avenue at a high rate of speed and striking the curb a couple of times. Officers stopped and checked the vehicle and found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 11th of January 2010.

33 year-old Marc Gardine of 331 Cheshire Street was arrested on the 5th of December at 2:52 am on Elgin Street and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that city police stopped and checked a vehicle on the 5th of December at 2:38 am and at the time they found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused registered a fail on the road side screening device. He is to appear in court on the 4th of January 2010.

Continuing Investigation

Investigation Services are continuing the investigation into a serious assault incident that took place on the 4th of December from approximately 8:00 – 8:30 pm at a residence on North Street. Police commenced an investigation around 1:15 am on the 5th of December after learning that the victim, a 26 year-old local man, was in critical condition at Sault Area Hospital with serious injuries he sustained in the assault. The victim was later airlifted to an out of town Medical Facility for treatment. Police are currently seeking the 32 year-old male suspect allegedly responsible for this assault. The suspect and victim are known to each other. There are no further details at this time.
