Male Arrested for Sexual Assault Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old Henry Jones of 399 Goulais Avenue on the 5th of December at 12:55 pm on Wilson Street and charged him with one count of sexual assault.
Male Arrested for Sexual Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old Henry Jones of 399 Goulais Avenue on the 5th of December at 12:55 pm on Wilson Street and charged him with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 5th of December at approximately 5:00 am the accused offered a ride to a female that had been walking in the Gore Street area, drove her to a business on Wilson Street, forced her into an office area and sexually assaulted her. The female received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The victim and the accused are not known to each other. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Two Males Arrested for Assaulting Male Known to Them
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males at a residence on Lake Street early Saturday morning in relation to an assault incident that took place overnight on the 4th of December at the residence of a 20 year-old male. It is alleged that the two accused males attended at the residence of the accused, got into a verbal argument with him and assaulted him by kicking and punching him in the head several times. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The victim and the two accused males are known to each other.

As a result, 20 year-old Scott Donofrio of 274 Bainbridge Place was charged with one cont of assault, one count of unlawfully in a dwelling and one count of breach of probation. The second male, 23 year-old David Christie of 250 Beverley Street (main floor) was charged with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling and one count of assault. Both are to appear in bail court this morning.

Drug Search Warrant Results in Arrest
On the 5th of December at 8:05 pm, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team and Patrol Services executed a search warrant at 79 James Street-Upstairs apt, the residence of 52 year-old Russell Barton. It is alleged that during the course of the search, officers located 6.5 grams of cocaine, a small amount of morphine, a digital scale, a prohibited weapon - switchblade knife, 3 different types of pills contained in the Food and Drug Act, and a stolen men’s jacket.

As a result, Russell Barton was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of property obtained by the commission of a criminal offence and three counts of possession of a restricted drug listed in Schedule F of the Food and Drug Act Regulations. It is a further alleged that the accused was found in possession of a stolen jacket from Sears.

At the time of these offences, the accused was bound by the conditions of a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. As a result, he was further charged with one count of breach of probation. Total street value of drugs seized is $735.00. The accused is to appear in bail court his morning.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Tyler Kennedy of no fixed address on outstanding warrants on the 3rd of December at approximately 5 pm on Cambridge Place. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of fail to appear court and three count of breach of probation. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 37 year-old male on the 5th of December at 5:45 pm at his residence and charged him with several domestic related offences in relation to his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged that the accused assaulted and threatened the victim on numerous occasions during their 18th month relationship and since their recent break up. He has been charged with two counts of assaults, one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of criminal harassment and one count of intimidation. The victim did receive some injuries that were not life-threatening as a result of one of the incidents. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

A 26 year-old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 11:40 pm last night at the police station and charged with one count of assault and two counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 4th of December the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend's apartment got into a verbal argument with her and assaulted her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused was also on a peace bond at the time in relation to the victim, not to molest, harass or physically interfere with her and was to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

On the 3rd of December at 11:08 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 57 year-old male at a local bar and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 3rd of December the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend at his residence by pushing her into a wall and choking her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in bail court his morning.

Impaired Driving Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 36 year-old Melissa Elliott of 13 Timothy Place on the 5th of December at 4:24 am at Sault Area Hospital and charged her with one count of fail to provide breath sample. It is alleged that on the 5th of December, while under the influence of alcohol, the accused was operating a Chrysler vehicle northbound on Black Road, when she lost control of the vehicle and started to fish tail in the northbound lane. The vehicle made contact with the shoulder of the road and rolled over coming to rest in the ditch. The accused was transported to hospital by E.M.S. for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police attended at the hospital and when they made the road side test demand the accused refused to provide a sample. She is to appear in court on the 17th of January.

R.I.D.E. Program Arrest
R.I.D.E. Program officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 52 yer-old John Cavaliere of 55 Field Square on the 5th of December at 1:25 am on Pine Street. It is alleged that the accused was stopped during the R.I.D.E. Program and at the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers administered the roadside screening device test and the accused registered a fail. As a result he was arrested and charged with one count of consuming over legal limit. He is to appear in court on the 10th of January 2011.
