The following five persons will be appearing in bail court today: 1. A 44-year-old male was arrested on Friday December 28th at an east end residence as a result of a domestic dispute.
The following five persons will be appearing in bail court today:

1. A 44-year-old male was arrested on Friday December 28th at an east end residence as a result of a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused male assaulted his girlfriend by grabbing her around the neck, pushing her into a wall and slapping her in the face several times. The accused is also alleged to have damaged windows and a lamp at the victim’s residence. The male is charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief. The female victim did not require medical attention for her injuries.

2. On Friday December 28th city police arrested a 13-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused youth broke into a residence in the 100 block of Ashgrove Ave. and stole a quantity of jewellery and money. Police investigators located the accused’s fingerprint inside the residence. The youth is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of breach of probation.

3. Heidi Babic, age 33, of 227 Alexandra St. is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000, one count of personation, one count of fail to appear in court and one count of failing to appear for fingerprints. It is alleged that on December 27th the accused attended at Mark’s Work Wearhouse on December 27th and stole a jacket valued at $ 120.00. The theft was recorded on video. On December 28th the accused returned to the store and was apprehended by store security for the theft. At that time it is alleged that she identified herself as her sister to avoid being arrested for failing to appear for court and fingerprints. After further investigations police discovered the accused’s real identity and arrested her on
December 29th.

4. A 19-year-old male was arrested early this morning at a centrally located address and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that at approx. 1:00 am the accused returned home to his apartment and assaulted his common-law girlfriend by slapping her in the face several times. The victim did not require any medical attention as a result of the assault.

5. David Carrie, age 41, of 34 River Rd. Aweres Twp is charged with one count of possession of a substance and three counts of breach of a peace bond. It is alleged that on Dec 30th at approx. 2:30 pm Mr. Carrie was located on Gore St. in an intoxicated condition. It is further alleged that when police searched the accused they located a syringe containing what is believed to be cocaine. The accused at the time of these offences was on a peace bond release with conditions to abstain from use or possession of alcohol and drugs.

Assault With a Weapon

Zitroy White, age 32, of 306 Korah Rd. is charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on Saturday Dec 29th the accused and another male, known to him were drinking at a west end bar when the accused struck the victim over the head with a beer bottle. The victim suffered two cuts to his head that required medical attention. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. The accused, Zitroy White will be appearing in court on Feb 4th at 9:00 am.

Impaired Driving

On Saturday December 29th at approx. 5:00 pm city police were called to investigate a motor vehicle collision on Trunk Rd at Boundary Rd. Upon arrival officers noticed that one of the driver’s, David Crack, age 44, of 31 Texas Ave. was impaired by alcohol. At that time the accused was arrested and charged with drive over 80mgs. No injuries were reported in this collision.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service operated a R.I.D.E. Program on Saturday Dec 29th.

The statistics are:

454 vehicles stopped
1- 12 hour suspension issued
7- roadside tests performed
No impaired drivers
One person arrested for another criminal charge (Drug offence)

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two reports of break and enter over the weekend.

A garage at a residence in the 100 block of Wayne Court was entered. It is not known what was stolen at this time. An apartment in the 200 block of James St. was entered and a quantity of furniture was stolen.

City police received a report of a stolen vehicle over the weekend.

A black Chrysler 300 was stolen from the parking area of the doctor’s building.
It was also reported that vehicles parked in the 1200 block of Wellington St.E. were entered over the weekend.
City police received one report of mischief. A mailbox at a residence in the 900 block of Carpin Beach rd. was damaged.
