Assault and Mischief

Yesterday evening City Police officers attended at an east end residence and arrested a 23-year-old male for Assault and Mischief. It is alleged that on Friday Aug 5th the male assaulted a female, known to him, by choking her. It is also alleged that the accused damaged the victim’s vehicle. The victim did not require any medical attention due to the assault. The accused will be attending Bail Court today at 9:00 AM.

Wellington St. Mishief

At approx. 7:30 PM last night City Police were called to an address in the 700 block of Wellington St.E. regarding a mischief complaint. Upon arrival officers spoke to a witness and were subsequently able to locate a suspect. It is alleged that the accused broke approx. ten windowpanes, at that residence, by throwing rocks at them. The victim and the accused are known to one another. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Thefts From Vehicles

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating the report of two thefts from vehicles in the Glengary Gate Cr. area over the weekend. In both incidents the culprits broke into the vehicles and removed the car stereos. Stolen were a Pioneer Car Stereo and an Alpine Car Stereo.

Imapired

City Police report that three persons were arrested for Impaired Driving over the weekend.

On Aug 6th, at approx.12: 15 AM it is alleged that Joseph John Simms, age 22, of 41 Central Creek Dr., was driving in an erratic manner on Lyons Ave. Upon stopping the vehicle it was determined that his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol. Mr. Simms will be appearing in court on Monday Sept. 12th at 9:00 AM.

On Sat. Aug. 6th at approx. 8:55 PM City Police observed 23 year old Ronald Forget, of 308 Huron St., operating a vehicle bearing stolen licence plates. Upon investigating further officers also determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. Mr. Forget will be appearing in court on Monday Sept. 12th at 9:00 AM on charges of Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80 mgs and Possession of stolen property.

At approx. 2:30 AM Sunday Aug 7th City Police stopped a vehicle that was being driven by 25 year old Andrew Chikowski, of 301 Goulais Ave. When speaking to Mr. Chikowski officers noted that he was impaired by alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Driving. Mr. Chikowski will be appearing in court on Monday Sept. 12th at 9:00 AM.
