Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Vehicle involved in Collision on Trunk Road

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 29 year-old Christopher Moar of 63 Hiawatha Drive, Garden River Ontario on the 28th of August at 1:40 am on Trunk Road and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that on the 28th of August at approximately 1:30 am the accused was in possession of a stolen 2003 grey Ford pickup truck which was involved in a motor vehicle collision on trunk Road. The accused and a second male that was inside the vehicle at the time of the collision fled on foot from the scene. The accused Moar was apprehend by police a short time later on Trunk road.

The accused received minor injuries as a result of the collision and no other injuries were reported to the occupants of the other vehicle. The vehicle had been reported stolen from the parking lot of a local east end bar earlier in the night.

At the time of his arrest the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was on an undertaking with conditions not to consume any alcohol. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Theft from Vehicle on Old Garden River Road

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 38 year-old Lawrence Gatza of #5-33 Crystal Place on the 26th of August at 12:15 am on Millcreek Drive and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that on the 26th of August at approximately 11:32 pm the accused broke into vehicle on Old Garden River Road and stole approximately $6 in change. The accused was under the influence of alcohol at this time and was on an undertaking condition not to consume any alcohol and was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Four Domestic Related Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 27 year-old male on the 27th of August at 1:23 pm and charged him with one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged that on the 27th of August the accused attended at the apartment of his girlfriend got into a verbal argument with her, damaged some furniture in the apartment and stole her apartment keys. At the time of his arrest he was found in possession of a knife that opened with centrifugal force. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 42 year-old male on the 29th of August at 3:15 am at the police station and charged him with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 26th of August at 8:pm the accused parked in front of the residence of his ex-girlfriend and at the time he was on a recognizance order with conditions to keep 500 meters away from the victim’s address. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 29 year-old male on the 17th of August at 9:40 am at the police station and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 27th of August the accused assaulted his girlfriend. The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of September.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23 year-old female on the 27th of August at 4:01 am at her residence and charged her with one count of assault and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 27th of August the accused assaulted her boyfriend during a verbal argument. The accused also damaged his Xbox 360. She is to attend in court on the 28th of September.

Three Male Youths Arrested for Assaults at City Bus Terminal

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested three youths aged 17, 14, and 15 years on the 28th of August at 8:53 pm in the area of Tancred Street after receiving a complaint of a fight at the City Bus Terminal. When officers arrived they discovered that the three youths had assaulted another youth known to them and also the 17 year-old had assaulted the Terminal Security Guard when he attempted to stop the assault.

The guard and the youth received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The 17 year-old youth was charged with two counts of assault and one count of cause a disturbance by fighting and is to appear in bail court this morning.

The 15 year-old was charged with cause a disturbance by fighting, one count of assault and one count of breach of a release document for breaching his curfew conditions. His court date is the 4th of October. The 14 year-old was charged with cause a disturbance by fighting and one count of assault and his court date is the 4th of October as well.

Male Arrested for Breach of Probation

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Troy Bozowskyi of #1-772 Wellington Street East on the 26th of August at his residence and charged him with one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 26th of August at approximately 1:27 am the accused breached his curfew conditions. The accused is to attend in court on the 26th of September.

Two Male Youths Arrested for Mischief at Station Mall

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two youths, aged 16 and 14 years, on the 27th of August at approximately 11:15 pm on Bay Street and charged them both with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that at approximately 10:51 pm the two youths smashed a 4X3 pane of glass from the north side entrance to Station Mall by the LCBO Store. Both are to appear in court on the 27th of September.

Female Arrested or Public Mischief

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 47 year-old Arlene Baziuk of 148 McFadden Avenue on the 27th of August at 1:56 am at her residence and charged her with one count of public mischief. It is alleged that on the 27th of August at approximately 12:12 am officers attended and received a mischief complaint from the accused and after an investigation discovered that the allegation was false. The accused is to appear in court on the 26th of September.

Break and Enters

• A residence was entered on Moluch Street sometime between midnight and 4:30 am on the 27th of August. Items reported stolen included 32 inch Sharp flat screen television jewellery, keys, a wallet and a 2006 Dodge Pickup –silver in colour.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to have occurred sometime over the weekend to a residence on Moluch Street.
• A garage on Rossmore Road was entered on the 27th of August and a bike was reported stolen.
