Three persons to appear in bail court On Saturday August 20th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15-year-old male for escape custody and being unlawfully at large.
Three persons to appear in bail court

On Saturday August 20th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15-year-old male for escape custody and being unlawfully at large. It is alleged that the accused person walked away from the Derek Holder House, a youth detention centre on Goulais Ave, on August 9th. As a result a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused. The accused is charged with one count of escape custody, one count of unlawfully at large and two counts of breach of probation.

Early yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 26-year-old female on two warrants. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for court on November 29th 2010 and on January 10th, 2011. Ruby Grisdale, age 26, of 346 Albert St. W, Apt # 3 is charged with two counts of failing to appear for court.

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law partner. The victim did not require medical assistance. The accused is charged with one count of assault.

Female arrested for robbery

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 32-year-old female for robbery. It is alleged that yesterday at 12:20 pm the accused attended at the Queen West Variety and robbed the clerk with a knife. A search of the area by police, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police canine unit, resulted in the arrest of the accused. Elizabeth Shier, age 32, of 553 Queen St. W. is charged with one count of robbery. Ms Shier is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am

Four persons arrested for drinking and driving offences

On Saturday evening members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 46-year-old female for impaired driving. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Trunk Rd where she was involved in a motor vehicle collision. It is further alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at that time. Angelic McIntomney, age 46, of 125 Cambridge Pl, apt # 301 is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs and one count of impaired driving. Ms McIntomney is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

On Saturday August 20th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 53-year-old female for driving over 80 mgs. It is alleged that the accused failed a roadside breath test administered by officers from Canada Customs. Police were called and the accused was arrested for drive over 80 mgs. Laurel, Keenan, age 53, of 253 Sunnyside beach rd is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs. Ms Keenan is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23-year-old male for drive over 80 mgs and possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that the accused was observed in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on Wellington St. E. The accused was arrested by officers after he failed a roadside test. Subsequent to his arrest officers located 2.3 grams of marihuana on the accused. Regis Poulin, age 23, of 200 Gran St.
apt # 9 is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Poulin is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for impaired driving, drive over 80 mgs and mischief. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol. It is further alleged that the accused committed the offence of mischief by damaging a parked vehicle. Joseph Reed, age 19, of 27 Princeton Dr. is charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of drive over 80 mgs and one count of mischief. Mr. Reed is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for assault

On Saturday August 20th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 77-year-old male for assault and assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife with a telephone. It is further alleged that the accused threatened the victim with bodily harm. The victim did not require medical assistance. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threatening. The accused is to appear in court on September 21st at 9:30 am

Male arrested for assault

On Saturday August 20th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 68-year-old male for assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a person known to him. The victim did not require medical assistance. William Cepecawer, age 68, of 16 Laronde Ave id charged with one count of assault and is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated four reports of break and enters.

Attempts were made to break into a business in the 300 block of Northland Rd and to a residence in the 100 block of East St.

A residence in the 400 block of Woodcroft Ave was entered- it is unknown what was taken.

A construction site in them 300 block of Dacey Rd was entered – tools were stolen.

Fires

The Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Services received three fire calls to the downtown area that are suspicious in nature. The fires all occurred between 1:00 am and 2:15 am on Saturday August 20th .

A dumpster was set on fire in the 200 block of Bay St.

A plastic shop sign was set on fire in the 100 block of Queen St. W.

Garbage was set on fire in the 100 block of Gore St.

Mischief

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to fifteen reports of vehicles being “keyed” or having windows smashed. The incidents were reported throughout the city.

A residence in the 100 block of Euclid Ave had several window damaged.

The window of the coin laundromat in the Station Mall was damaged.

Theft

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received fourteen reports of vehicles damaged and contents stolen.

Items stolen were wallets, cash, cell phones, computers and medication.

Copper wire was stolen from a construction site in the 600 block of North St.

Three bicycles were reported stolen over the weekend.
