7 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning: 1) It is alleged that a 50-year old male threatened to kill his wife on August 20th while in a vehicle in the downtown area.
7 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:
1) It is alleged that a 50-year old male threatened to kill his wife on August 20th while in a vehicle in the downtown area. The accused was arrested on August 21st and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

2) A 41-year old male was arrested yesterday morning after City Police were called to an east end residence in regards to domestic dispute. It is alleged that the male slapped his common-law wife in the face during an argument. The male has been charged with assault.

3) 18-year old Michael Hodgson of 27 Nebenaoching Street was arrested on August 19th in the evening hours for being intoxicated in a public place in the City’s east end. The accused was taken into custody and while at the police station it is alleged that the accused took a swing at an officer and spit on the officer. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the two arresting officers. The accused has been charged with one count of assault police officer and two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

4) On August 19th, 23-year old Amanda Bouchard of Elliott Lake was arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police on an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The accused was turned over to the City Police. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear in court on July 18th and a warrant for fail to attend court was issued in Sault Ste. Marie.

5) 29-year old Cory Wasylinuik of 5-406 Queen Street West was arrested yesterday just after midnight. The accused was on probation with conditions not to consume alcohol and was under the influence of alcohol when officers were dealing with the accused. He has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation.

6) On August 20th it is alleged that a 18-year old Adam Black of no fixed address and a 17-year old youth assaulted a male victim in a City’s west end residence just before 8 pm. It is alleged that Mr. Black removed a small bat from his pants and struck the victim in the head with the bat. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Black was on probation at the time of the offence with conditions including to keep the peace and be good. Mr. Black has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm and 2 counts of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning. The 17-year old youth was also on probation with terms including to keep the peace and be good. The youth has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm and 2 counts of breach of probation. The youth will appear in court on September 27th.

7) A 16-year old youth was arrested on August 20th just after 1:30 am. Officers stopped the youth in the downtown area and a query revealed that the youth was wanted on outstanding warrants for 4 counts of breach of probation and one count of fail to appear in court.
On Friday afternoon just before 2:30 pm City Police arrested 28-year old Michael Jerome Borden of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was arrested in t 500 block of Albert Street East. Mr. Borden was wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for Robbery. Mr. Borden has been remanded into custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. Officers from Halifax Regional Municipality Policing Services will be flying to Sault Ste. Marie to take custody of the accused and return him to Halifax.


Impaired Driving Charges Laid

29-year old James Meyers of Dafter Michigan was operating a motor vehicle around 3am on August 20th on Farwell Terrace in front of a City Police cruiser. It is alleged that the Meyers vehicle started to swerve and almost hit a curb. When officers stopped the accused, it was noted he was under the influence of alcohol. The accused was charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on September 26th.

Driving Under the Influence

On August 21st just after 4 am City Police attended at a parking lot at Pim Street and Great Northern Road in regards to a possible impaired driver being in the area. Officers observed a male driving a vehicle in an erratic manner in the Burger King Parking Lot. When officers stopped the accused they found him to under the influence of alcohol. 30-year old Vince Tomas of 269 Dryden Avenue has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on September 26th.


Driving while Disqualified

On August 21st around 8:30 pm officers stopped a vehicle on Bay Street after it is alleged that the driver was driving his car at high rates of speed and attempted to evade officers by going down an alley. Officers stopped the car on Bay Street by the Station Mall and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. 38-year old Irving Chung of 335-59 Old Garden River Road has been charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order. He will appear in court on September 29th.
