Three persons for bail court On Friday August 12th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance.
Three persons for bail court
On Friday August 12th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that the accused male was in possession of marihuana while in custody at the Holder House youth detention centre on Second Line W. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation. The youth is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation.

On Saturday August 13th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for assault, forcible confinement and breach of probation. It is alleged that while at his ex-girlfriend’s residence the accused assaulted her. It is further alleged that he then forcibly confined her. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of forcible confinement and one count of breach of probation.

On Saturday August 13th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 33-year-old male for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous, threatening death and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on Saturday evening the accused and the victim, who are known to one another, became involved in an argument. It is alleged that during the argument the accused used a knife to stab the victim. It is further alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation.

Ancil Dedier, age 33, of 147 Letcher St is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon dangerous, one count of threatening death and two counts of breach of probation. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not attend for medical treatment.

Male arrested for break and enter
On Sunday August 14th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 21-year-old male for break and enter. It is alleged that on Friday August 12th the accused broke into an apartment in the 300 block of Cathcart St.and stole a quantity of money. Michael Ryan, age 21, of 322 Cathcart St. is charged with one count of break and enter. Mr. Ryan is to appear in court on September 19th at 9:00 am.

Three persons arrested for driving over 80 mgs
On Friday August 12th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 30-year-old male for drive over 80-mgs. It is alleged that the accused was operating his vehicle on Wellington St. W. while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside test confirmed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. Winston Evans, age 30 of 154 Albert St. E Apt # 1 is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs. Mr. Evans is to appear in court on September 19th at 9:00 am.

On Sunday August 14th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old male for drive over 80 mgs. It is alleged that the accused was operating his vehicle on Second Line W. when he was stopped by the R.I.D.E. A roadside test confirmed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. The youth is charged with one count of drive over 80mgs and is to appear in court on September 13th at 9:30 am.

On Sunday August 14th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old male for drive over 80 mgs and take auto without consent. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Maki Rd. when he was involved in a single motor vehicle collision. The Sault Ste. Marie Fire and Police Services were called to the scene as a result of the vehicle catching fire. Upon police arrival it was determined that the accused was operating the vehicle and that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. It is further alleged that the accused had taken the motor vehicle without the consent of the owner.

Tyler Dunn, age 22 of 56 Manilla Terr., is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs and one count of take auto without consent. Mr. Dunn is to appear in court on September 19th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter
An attempted break –in occurred at a residence I the 600 block of Connaught Ave.

Fires
There were two reports of dumpster fires over the weekend. Fires were reported to the rear of businesses in the 200 block of Wellington St. W. and the 100 block of Trelawne Ave.

Mischief
Seven vehicles were reported damaged over the weekend.
The incidents occurred in the 200 block of Pentagon Blvd, the 100 block of Great Northern Rd, the 600 block of Queen St. E, the 100 block of East St, the 100 block of Eastern Ave, the 100 block of Robin St and at the Fort Creek Conservation parking area.

Lawn ornaments were damaged at a residence in the 100 block of Chambers Ave.

Theft
Medical equipment was stolen from a business in the 200 block of Queen St. E.

Three vehicles were entered in the 600 block of Queen St. E. Tools and electronic items were stolen.

Electronics were stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Henrietta St.

A purse containing credit cards and cash was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of East St.

A bicycle was stolen from the 500 block of Shannon Rd.

A three wheeled cycle were stolen from the parking area of the Algoma Art Gallery.

R.I.D.E. Program
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. program over the weekend.

A total of 476 vehicles were checked.

Five roadside tests were administered which resulted in:
one person being charged with impaired driving, one person being issued a seven day suspension and one person being issued a three day suspension.
