3 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning: 1) A 40-year old male was arrested around 10:30 pm Friday night after it is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife by grabbing her by her throat, holding her down and squeezing her hand.
3 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 40-year old male was arrested around 10:30 pm Friday night after it is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife by grabbing her by her throat, holding her down and squeezing her hand. The incident occurred in the couple’s downtown residence. The accused has been charged with one count of assault.

2) On Friday night just before midnight it is alleged that a male in the city’s east end assaulted his girlfriend while in the victim’s east end residence. It is alleged that the male shoved the victim with an ironing board, grabbed her and threw her to the ground and stomped on her face and chest. The victim was then not allowed to leave the residence. It is also alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim. The accused left the residence sometime after the incident. The victim did not require medical care. The accused was arrested early Saturday morning and has been charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of forcible confinement.

3) A 17-year old youth was arrested just after 2:30 am on Sunday morning. It is alleged that the accused was entering vehicles in a parking lot in the 700 block of Bay Street. When officer queried the accused they learned that the youth was on release documents with conditions including a curfew of 9 pm to 7 am, to reside at a specific address, and to notify a change of address. The accused was also on probation with terms of a curfew of 9 pm to 7 am and to keep the peace and be good. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of attempt theft under $5,000, 3 counts of breach of release documents and three counts of breach of probation.

3 Youths Charged with Mischief

On Friday morning and Sunday evening City Police arrested 3 15-year old youths and charged them with numerous counts of mischief. It is alleged on July 27th 3 vehicles in the 100 block of Maple Street and the 300 block of Wilson Street had their tires slashed, and one vehicle had paint poured over it. 3 vehicles were involved. One of the youths has been charged with one count of mischief in regards to the tire slashing on Maple Street and will appear in court on September 13th. The second youth has been charged with 3 counts of mischief in regards to slashing tires to 3 vehicles and will appear in court on September 13th. The third youth has been charged with 4 counts of mischief in regards to three vehicles having their tires slashed and paint poured on one vehicle. This youth has also been charged with one count of possession of house breaking tools after officers located a knapsack containing pliers and screwdrivers in it belonging to this accused. This youth will appear in court on September 20th.

Youth Charged with Throwing Rocks at a Home

A 15 and 16-year-old youth were arrested just after 2 am this morning. It is alleged that the youths threw rocks at a home in the 100 block of Atwater Street causing the window in the storm door to break. Damage is estimated at approximately $100. The youths have each been charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and both will appear in court on September 20th.

Male Kicks Dog

On Saturday evening just before 8 pm two males in the downtown area noted two other males kicking a dog. One of the males yelled at the males who were with the dog to leave the dog alone. It is alleged that the males with the dog and a third male approached the 2 males who had been down the street and witnessed the dog being kicked. As a result of saying something to these males regarding the dog, 2 male victims were assaulted and threatened by the group of 3. 19-year old William Fleming of 634 Connaught Avenue has been charged with one count of assault in regards to one male victim who spoke up regarding the dog; and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of break and enter and commit an offence in regards to the second male victim. 21-year old Brain Wing of 50 Old Goulais Bay Road has been charged with one count of assault in regards to the male who spoke up about the dog; and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm in regard to the second male victim. This accused was also charged with one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be good. 19-year old Damien Sharp of 513 Government Road, Echo Bay has been charged with two counts of assault, one for each male victim. All three will appear in court on September 19th. During the altercation the dog allegedly bit the male who spoke up in regards to the dog being kicked. The Humane Society was contacted and involved in this incident.

Three break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) Between 11 pm on the 12th and 8:30 am on the 13th thieves attempted to enter a home in the 100 block of Arizona but is it believed they were scared off by a dog in the residence.

2) On the 13th of August Pure H2O Water located at 80 White Oak Drive Unit #1 was broken into overnight. Nothing was taken.

3) On the 14th of August a homeowner reported a break and enter to a residence in the 100 block of Cathcart Street. It is unknown if anything was taken at this time.
