Male Charged for Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle and Disqualified Driving: The Sault Ste.

Male Charged for Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle and Disqualified Driving: 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Michael Turmaine, age 21, of 82 Elliott Road on the 20th of April and charged him with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, one count of drive while disqualified  and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 20th of April at approximately 8:32 pm the accused was operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner in the area of St. Basil’s Drive.   At the time he was prohibited from driving due to a previous impaired driving charge.  At the time the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused was subsequently charged and is to appear in court on the 28th of May. 

Male Charged with Assault on Police Officer and Resist Arrest:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Marty Bardawill, age 19, of #1-383 First Avenue on the 21st of April and charged him with one count of assault police officer and one count of resist arrest.  It is alleged that on that date at approximately 11:06 pm officers attended at disturbance call at a local bar. While officers were investigating the incident, the accused, while in an intoxicated state, kicked the police cruiser and pushed one of the officers.   Further, the accused resisted arrest.  The accused was subsequently charged and is to appear in court on the 28th of May. 

Impaired Driving/Consuming Over the Legal Limit Charges:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Thomas McEwan, age 74, of 22 Elmwood Avenue on the 22nd of April and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit.  It is alleged that on the 22nd of April at approximately 3:46 am officers were dispatched to Elmwood Avenue regarding an impaired driver.  Upon arrival, the accused was observed inside of a vehicle that had collided into a tree in the front yard of residence. When officers checked him, they found him to be under the influence of alcohol.  He was subsequently arrested and is to appear in court on the 28th of May. 

On the 21st of April at approximately 9:15 pm, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to Canada Customs with regards to a male that they had arrested for allegedly failing the alcohol roadside screening device test at the inspection checkpoint.  The male, Henry Wieczerza, age 41, of 51 Petoskey Street, Gaylord Michigan was subsequently charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and is to appear in court on the 28th of May. 

On the 21st of April at approximately 2:28 am, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to Canada Customs with regards to a female that they had arrested for allegedly failing the alcohol roadside screening device test at the inspection checkpoint.  The female, Sherry Livingston, age 48, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and is to appear in court on the 28th of May. 

Male Charged with Disqualified Driving: 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Roger Taylor, age 57, of 56 Ferguson Avenue on the 20th of April and charged him with one count of disqualified driving.  It is alleged that on the 20th of April at approximately 9:12 pm officers conducted a vehicle stop at the corner of Wellington Street East and Kohler Street and a check of the accused revealed that he was prohibited from driving.  He is to appear in court on the 28th of April. 

Shoplifting Related Charges: 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged Dennis DelGuidice, age 58, of #102-250 Albert Street East on the 21st of April for allegedly stealing items from the Station Mall Dollarama on that date.  He is to appear in court on the 28th of May.  

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Krystal Hart on the 20th of April on an outstanding warrant with regards to a shoplifting incident at Sears from the 11th of March.  The accused was charged with one count of theft under $5,000,00 and is to appear in court on the 28th of May.

Bail Court Appearance Arrest

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested Patrick Martin, age 50, of 118 West Street (rear) on the 20th of April and charged him with one count of breach of recognizance.  It is alleged that on the 20th of April the accused was breaching his bail recognizance order by residing in a residence where a computer is located or internet access is available.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Train and Motor Vehicle Collision:

On Sunday at 11:06 am the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a collision involving a vehicle and train at the Bruce Street railway crossing.  It is alleged that the driver of a southbound vehicle failed to stop for the train at the railway crossing.  The flashing lights were functioning and activated at the time of the collision.  The driver was not injured and the vehicle was demolished.  As a result, the driver, Keith Rinker, age 52, of 7 Dixie Road was charged with one count of fail to stop at railway crossing – public vehicle, under the Highway Traffic Act.

Motorcycle and Vehicle Collision: 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently investigating a collision involving a motorcycle and vehicle that occurred at 2:04 pm Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Great Northern Road and Third Line East.  The involved driver and a passenger of the motorcycle both received serious, non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention.  The driver of the Saturn vehicle was not injured.  Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was travelling southbound on Great Northern Road and made a left-hand turn onto Third Line East when it was struck by a Saturn vehicle that was northbound on Great Northern Road.
