Domestic Dispute A 36 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of April at 4:12 pm at a west end residence regarding several domestic related incidents involving his common-law wife.
Domestic Dispute

A 36 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of April at 4:12 pm at a west end residence regarding several domestic related incidents involving his common-law wife. It is alleged that between November 2007 and the 31st of March 2008 the accused assaulted the victim on three occasions while at their residence. During the assaults, the victim was punched, pushed, back-handed and choked. The accused also threw a brush at the victim’s face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries during the assaults. It is further alleged that the accused damaged an antique dresser that belonged to the victim by cutting it with a chainsaw.

The accused has been charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of mischief under $5,000.00. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driving

43 year-old John Dyer of 77 Forest Avenue was arrested on the 13th of April at 2:45 pm on North Street and charged with one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count of fail to remain at the scene of an accident. It is alleged that on the 13th of April at approximately 2:35 pm the accused was involved in a hit and run accident on Second Line West. The accused was observed by several witnesses driving his minivan erratically down the Second Line Hill and strike a Ford Focus that was traveling westbound on Second Line West just east of the Fort Creek Conservation area. The accused left the scene and was followed by one of the witnesses to a residence on North Street. Police attended and while speaking with the accused they discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol. The 59 year-old female driver of the Ford that was struck in the accident received minor injuries and her vehicle was extensively damaged. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Possession of Drugs

On the 11th of April at approximately 11:50 am city police attended at a local hotel after receiving information that persons staying in one of the rooms were in possession of firearms and drugs. As a result of the investigation, two persons were arrested after officers searched the room and located approximately 35.8 grams of cocaine, 65 oxycodone tablets, a small quantity of crack cocaine, a quantity of cash, various packaging materials, three digital scales and various other drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was $4,900.00.
29 year-old Gary Saunders of 1618 Eighth Avenue West, Sault Michigan was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and is to appear in court on the 12th of May and 32 year-old Heidi Debassige of no fixed address was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of resist peace officer as result of struggling and refusing to comply with officers during her arrest. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

50 year-old Florindo Cavaliere of 1023 Black Road was arrested on the 14th of April at 12:51 am on Second Line West and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 14th of April at 12:41 am city police observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Second Line West in the area of Leighs Bay Road that was swerving several times. When the vehicle was stopped the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 26th of May.

Six Charged with Possession

City police attended at Apartment #1-167 Albert East to assist the ambulance attendants with a drug related medical emergency. When police arrived to assist, several persons were found in the apartment and a quantity of illegal drugs consisting of needles containing morphine, a small amount of marijuana, fentanyl, methadone and other various drug paraphernalia.

As a result the following six persons were arrested and charged with:

1) 36 year-old Jason Boyer of 16 Hughes Street was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
2) 35 year-old James Syrette of 44 Nebenaigoching Street, Rankin Reserve was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
3) 32 year-old Carianne Towedo of #3-427 Wellington Street East was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance,
4) 64 year-old Michele Fascina (male) of #1- 167 Albert Street East was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.
5) 23 year-old Krystal Hart of #1-167 Albert Street East was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and failing to be of good behaviour.
6) 26 year-old Curtis Pheasant of #1-167 Albert Street East was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and failing to be of good behaviour.

The following incidents of mischief, thefts and break and enters reported over the weekend:

1) There was an attempt theft of a vehicle from a residence on Hare Avenue on the 14th of April.
2) A hand held Motorola radio was stolen from an Easy Cab that was parked unattended outside the Esquire Club on Second Line West on the 12th of April.
3) There was a break and enter reported to the Shingwalk Chapel on Queen Street East that occurred between 5 pm on the 11th of April and 1:31 pm on the 13th of April. It is not known at this time what was taken.
4) There was a rear window smashed at the Brody’s Sports Bar and Grill overnight on the 12th-13th of April.
5) A vehicle that was parked on Elgin Street was entered and ransacked overnight on the 13th of April.
6) Two vehicle tires were slashed on the King Street parking lot overnight ion the 13th of April.
