Domestic Related Arrests Officers with the Sault Ste.
Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 36 year-old male on the 9th of April at 1:35 am at his residence and charged him with two counts of assault, one count of careless storage of a fireman and two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm. It is alleged that on the 9th of April the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law partner and assaulted her and then a family member that attempted to intervene. The two victims received non-life threatening injuries as result of the incident. When officers were investigating the domestic incident, they discovered that the accused was in possession of two firearms and some ammunition that was stored improperly and further, he did not have authorization to have possession of them.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 55 year-old male on the 9th of April at 10:10 pm and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 9th of April at 9:55 pm the accused assaulted his girlfriend while in a vehicle in the downtown area. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 51 year-old male on the 9th of April at 6 pm and charged him with there counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attended at the residence of a female that he was on conditions not to communicate with due to past domestic related assaults. Further the accused was to keep the peace and be good.

A 35 year-old female was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on the 10th of April at 1:10 pm on domestic related warrants and charged with three count so of breach of probation. The charges are in relation to her communicating repeatedly with her ex-boyfriend when on conditions not to. Further she was to keep the peace and be good.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 14 year-old male youth on the 10th of April at 4:15 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 9th of April the youth assaulted a family member during a family dispute at his residence and also damaged some household items. At the time of the incident the youth was on probation to keep the peace and be good.

Male on Outstanding Warrants
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Joshua Vanatta of no fixed address on the 8th of April at 4:15 pm on Second Line West and charged him with three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was observed leaving a local beer store with a case of beer and at the time he was on conditions that he not purchase or be in possession of any alcohol. Officer ran the accused and discovered that he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation conditions. He is to appear in bail court this morning

Male Arrested for Breaching Release Documents
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old John McGaughey of 75 Arden Street on the 8th of April at 11:40 pm on Broadview Avenue and charged him with two counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 8th of April at approximately 11:40 pm officers observed the accused walking on Broadview Street carrying a bottle of liquor and when officers ran a check on him they discovered that he was on a recognizance order with conditions that he not be in possession of any alcohol and further he was on curfew conditions to be in his residence daily from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Male Arrested for Theft of Steel at Local Business
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 45 year-old Robert Desbois of 1H Grosvenor on the 8th of April at 2:55 pm on Albert Street East and charged him with one count of break and enter, one count of mischief and one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 8th of April at approximately 1:09 pm the accused broke into a business compound on Cathcart Street, tore down a steel door canopy from a rear exit door of the building and loaded into a trailer that he had been pulling behind his truck. The accused was witnessed loading the door and other various steel onto the trailer and when he attempted to drive off with the stolen items he was confronted by the owner and other witnesses who attempted to hold him for police. The accused fled on foot but was located by police a short time later at Albert Street and he was arrested. He is to appear in court on the 16th of May.

Male Arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Tyler Lucente of 550 Boundary Road at the police station on the 10th of April at 1:05 am and charged him with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 9th of April at approximately 7:26 pm the accused was assaulted by a male known to him in a downtown parking lot. The victim required medical attention for non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault. The accused is to appear in court on the 16th of May.

Two Males Arrested after Confrontation at Local High School
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males in relation to a weapons incident that occurred on April 8th at a local High School. Both males were charged with one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to public. The two males, one 18 year old, and one 16 year-old youth allegedly pulled knives on each other during a confrontation in the rear parking lot of the school. One of the males left the area without further incident. As a result of the police investigation, the charges were laid. Charged is 18 year-old, Jeff Humphries of 4 Raymond Street who is appearing in court on the 16th of May and a 16 year-old male youth who will appear in court on the 17th of May. Jeff Humphries was not a student of the school at the time, but the youth was.

Impaired Driving Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 51 year-old Lorne Lambert of 347 Korah Road on the 9th of April at 4:25 am on Huron Street and charged him with one count of consume over the legal limit. Officers were called to Canada Customs and assisted with the accused driver who was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped at the checkpoint. The accused registered a fail on the roadside screening device and was taken into custody. He later failed the breathalyzer tests at the police station. He is to appear in court on the 16th of May.

Male Arrested for Mischief
Officers arrested 23 year-old Shawn Leblanc of #306-20 Albion Street on the 10th of April at 9:12 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 9th of April at approximately 2 am the accused attended at the residence of a person known to him and threw a piece of asphalt through the front door window, damaging it.
