Man found sleeping at restaurant, charged with public intoxication

Investigation determined the male had breached his bail conditions

BLIND RIVER – On Jan. 1, 2017, shortly after 2 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a male that was intoxicated at a local restaurant in the Town of Blind River.

Police located the male sleeping at a table in the restaurant and he was arrested. The investigation determined the male had breached his bail conditions.

As a result, Devin Bean, 23 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Feb. 9, 2017.
