On Jan. 19, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 36-year-old Steven Aguonie of Wellington Street East for weapons offences.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. officers attended the accused’s residence regarding a noise complaint. Officers knocked on the door and when the accused answered the door he was pointing a handgun at the officers. Officers directed the male to drop the weapon and after several commands he complied.
The accused was safely taken into custody and the weapon was seized. Upon a close inspection, officers found that the item was a very realistic BB gun.
The accused has been charged with one count of pointing a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. He was held for bail court.
