Man charged with making nearly $7K in fraudulent purchases

A 40-year-old man was arrested over the weekend and charged with making nearly $7,000 worth of fraudulent purchases on his employer’s account.

The investigation began on Feb. 12, when someone phoned 911 to report suspected fraud at a business in the 500 block of Second Line East. 

"The investigation determined the accused purchased $6,743.21 of products on their employer’s account over the course of three days in January," says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The suspect was located on Feb. 24 and arrested. 

Ryan Souliere is charged with:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Appearance Notice
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court x2

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Souliere is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
