A man already arrested multiple times this year for allegedly swinging a hatchet — once at a downtown business, then again during a bike theft — is back in police custody yet again.

This time, the 26-year-old is accused of exposing himself inside a Bay Street business, making offensive gestures and committing a break-in.

Sault Police say their investigation began on Oct. 27, when a person “exposed their genitals and made offensive gestures to several people” at a business in the 200 block of Bay Street.

The suspect left the property, police say, but returned again a couple hours later. Police say he also came back two more times on Oct. 29 and 30, only to be escorted off the property both times by security personnel.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday, police were dispatched to an alarm at a different business in the 100 block of East Street, where they located the suspect nearby and arrested him on the strength of the previous warrant.

“Investigation revealed the accused had broken into the business and damaged property,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “They were found to be in possession of a stolen passport, break and enter tools, a set of master keys for the business, and one bullet.
