Man arrested for theft and fraud

On Aug. 21, 2017, officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 25-year-old Gheorghe Bratu of Allen Street with regards to a theft and fraud.

It is alleged that on July 25, the accused stole a wallet from a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Queen Street West. The accused then (allegedly) used a stolen credit card from the wallet to make purchases at two locations in Sault Ste. Marie.

The accused was later identified by police and arrested. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of fraud and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. He will appear in court on Sept. 25, 2017.
