Man accused of brandishing BB gun, uttering threats

Police say after being asked to leave a Boundary Road business, suspect uttered threats and showed a weapon that turned out to be a BB gun

Sault Ste. Marie Police charged a suspect with uttering threats and using an imitation firearm after an incident at a business in the city's east end earlier today.

Police said at around 12:30 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of someone being threatened with a firearm at a business in the 600 block of Boundary Road.

Investigation revealed the suspect had shown an imitation firearm to an employee when they were asked to leave the business, police said in a news release.

The individual was arrested. Police said a subsequent search found them to be in possession of a black BB gun.

Kyle Naveau, 29, is charged with:

  • Using Imitation Firearm in Commission of Offence
  • Uttering Threats

Naveau was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 13.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Naveau is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
