Male Charged for Possession of Stolen Property

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31 year-old Ronald Mearow of #306-441 Queen Street West on the 8th of September at 5:10 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused attended at a local pawn shop on the 2nd of August and pawned a stolen X-Box 360, various games, a headset and a message pad. The items had been reported stolen from a residence break and enter that occurred on the 12th of July. The accused is to attend court on the 17th of October.

Shoplifting Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 48 year-old Edward Martel of #209-222 Albert Street East on the 8th of September at 5:55 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 8th of September at 5:50 p.m. the accused attended at the store and stole a bag of dog food. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions that he keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to attend court on the 17th of October.

One Bail Court Appearance Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Kent Raisanen of #8-110 Wilding Avenue on the 8th of September at 8:21 am at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged him with one count of assault peace officer, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of September the accused threatened to kill and threw a cup of toilet liquid at a guard while he was in custody at the Centre. At the time the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Obstructing Police

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Kodi Stibert of 145 Wallace Terrance at 2 am this morning on First Avenue and charged him with one count of obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that on the 9th of September at 1:45 am officers were dispatched to First Avenue with regards to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. When officers arrived and attempted to arrest the intoxicated male, a second male, the accused, attempted to stop them. The male would not comply with the officers directions to stop interfering and was arrested. The accused is to attend court on the 24th of October.

Theft Reports

• A 1994 Ford Pickup truck, grey top, green stripe and grey bottom with a regular cab, was reported stolen from a truck stop parking lot in the 900 block of Great Northern Road on the 7th of September.

• 16 Bundles of shingles were stolen from a shed in the 200 block of Albert Street West on the 8th of September.

• A vehicle on Atlas Street was entered and s wallet left inside was stolen.
