Hit & Run

Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into a hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a stolen vehicle. Last night just after 9 pm officers attended in the area of the 500 block of Byrne Avenue and found that a white Dodge pickup truck had collided with a shed and an excavator. It is believed that the white pickup truck was traveling northbound on Northland Road and turned right onto Byrne Avenue, ran up over a curb, onto a front lawn and collided with a black Cadillac parked in the driveway. The pickup truck then continued out of this driveway, went back onto Byrne Avenue and came to rest further down Byrne and across the street from where the Cadillac had been hit. The pickup truck came to a rest after being stuck between the shed and excavator. The driver fled the scene. Officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen from a garage where the owner had left it earlier in the day. Both a Bell cable line and a PUC pole were struck in the collision. The pickup truck was severely damaged and the car received light damage. Traffic Services is asking anyone who may have seen this pickup truck traveling in the area or who has any information regarding this collision and stolen vehicle to contact them at 949-6300 ext. 382.
