Female Arrested for Dangerous Driving

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested [charge withdrawn] on the 30th of September at 5:50 am at the police station on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of dangerous driving. It is alleged that she was wanted for an incident that took place on the 29th of September when she was operating her Dodge pickup truck in a dangerous manner on McFadden Street by accelerating the vehicle and driving directly towards a male known to her, nearly striking him. The incident is in relation to a neighbour dispute.

Impaired Driving Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27 year-old John Kalomiris of #2-167 Henrietta Avenue on the 30th of September at 1:35 am on Elm Street and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit.

It is alleged that on the 30th of September around 1:17 am officers received a call regarding an impaired driver that had just left a local bar and was driving in an erratic manner on Great Northern Road.

Officers checked the vehicle at the intersection of Elm Street and John and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently arrested. He is to appear in court on the 7th of November.

Male Arrested for Mischief and Causing a Disturbance

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Shaun Charlette of 12 Amherst Avenue on the 29th of September at 10 pm on Northland Road and charged him with one count of mischief, one count of cause a disturbance and one count of being intoxicated in a public place.

It is alleged that on the 29th of September just before 10 pm the accused was in an intoxicated state in the area of Northland Road and was observed throwing large 4"x 4" posts in the roadway, breaking beer bottles on the street and yelling and screaming obscenities.

Further, the accused approached a vehicle on the roadway, obstructing its movement and yelling and screaming at its occupants. The accused was located and arrested by police and is to appear in court on the 31st of October.

Mac’s Mart Robbery Under Investigation

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were dispatched to a robbery at Mac’s Mart on the 29th of September at 11:48 pm. A lone male entered the Mac's Mart Convenience Store located at 655 Wellington Street West brandishing a knife, demanding money and cigarettes. The suspect fled without further incident with several packages of cigarettes and some cash.

The suspect was last seen heading northbound on Wellington Street West. He is described as being 5'8", medium build, wearing a black hoodie and black pants, mid 20's, and had what appeared to be a beige tensor bandage wrapped around his face. Officers searched the area with negative results. The investigation is continuing.

Break and Enter Reports

• A residence on Albert Street West was broken into on the 29th of September. The residence was ransacked, furniture upended and several things strew about. Some damage was also reported.

• A garage on McNabb Street was entered by a male suspect at around 3:54 pm. The male was scarred off by the homeowner-nothing was reported stolen.

Theft Reports

• Election Signs were reported stolen in the areas of McNabb and Great Northern, Wellington Street East and Chambers at Bennett.

• Metal was reported stolen from a rear yard on Albert Street West.

• Tools were reported stolen from a construction site on Goulais Avenue.
