Two Female Youths Arrested for Escape Lawful Custody and Breach of Probation

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two female youths, ages 16 and 14, at 5:33 pm yesterday in the downtown area and charged them each with one count of escape lawful custody and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 22nd of September at approximately 2:50 pm the accused females escaped from a local youth facility and were later located by police on Tancred Street and arrested. At the time of the incident both were on probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Impaired Driving Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Justen Henderson of 14 Victoria Avenue at 2:49 am and charged him with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of escape lawful custody, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on 23rd of September at 2:40 am officers checked a vehicle on Ontario Avenue and at the time the accused was found slumped behind the steering wheel with the vehicle running. The accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol and gave the officers a false identity when they were questioning him. When an officer advised him he was under arrest and attempted to handcuff him, the accused pulled away and fled custody. The accused was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and subsequently arrested.

At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Two Domestic Related Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 52 year-old male at 9:06 am yesterday morning at his residence and charged him with one count of assault and one count of possession of ammunition when prohibited.

It is alleged that on the 22nd of September at 8:30 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his wife at their residence and assaulted her. When officers were investigating the incident they found the accused to be in possession of firearm ammunition and at the time he was prohibited from doing so.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 28 year-old male at 4:03 am this morning and charged him with two counts of assault, one count of forcible confinement, one count of mischief, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of break and enter a dwelling and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that at 4:00 am on the 23rd of September the accused attended at the victim’s apartment and assaulted her. When the victim attempted to leave, the accused forcibly confined her in the apartment. Another female attended in the apartment and assisted the victim in leaving. The accused then allegedly forced his way into that female’s apartment and assaulted her as well and caused some damage inside the apartment.

The ex-girlfriend received non-life threatening injuries as a result requiring medical attention. When the accused was arrested by officers they found him to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

The accused was on a probation order at the time of the incident with conditions that he not communicate or physically interfere with the victim and was not to attend at her residence.
