On the 21Sep12, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Street Team members along with the Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of 43 year old Victoria Joanne Czapla located at 575 Northland Road, Sault Ste. Marie.   Located in the search were four mature marijuana plants, 355 grams of marijuana for distribution, 2 grams of marijuana, two and one half Oxyneo 40 mg pills, two 30 mg codeine pills, ten and one half Oxycodone pills (Percocet), as well as packaging material, scales, grinders, other drug paraphernalia and an amount of cash money.  Also found was a can of pepper spray.

The accused was arrested at the scene and charged with production of marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking x2 and possession of a controlled substance x4.  The projected street value of drugs seized is $11,330.00.  Accused was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.  She will appear in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court) on Saturday morning.

Break and Enters

A business in the 600 block of Bay St was entered, taken was a Playstation2 and 2 I-Mac Computers.

Sometime overnight a business in the 400 block of Great Northern Rd. was broken into, money was taken.

A residence in the 100 block of Anna St. was entered early this morning. The homeowner wrestled with the suspect before the male ran off with a purse containing money and identification.

Mischief

Over the last week several windows have been smashed at Parkland School, 54 Amber St.

Theft

Vehicle stolen overnight from the 100 block of Conmee Ave. Vehicle is described as a 2008 Ford Expedition, 4 door, and black in colour. Licence plate for the vehicle is BLLJ 927.

Numerous vehicles in the hill top area were entered overnight. Various items taken: including, money, Nintendo 3DS videos games, Panasonic and Cannon Digital Cameras and a tire compressor.

Several tools were taken sometime over the last 3 days from an address in the 100 block of Trelawne Ave.

Morning news

Break and Enter

A 41 year old male was arrested by City Police on the 20th of September for Break and Enter to a west end residence which had domestic related implications. Further investigation revealed he was wanted on a warrant for fail to re-attend court to answer to charges dating back to 2011. He is scheduled for bail court on the 21st.

Bear dispatched

City Police were called to a residence in the west end of the city Thursday evening to deal with a bear cub in distress. The cub was in obvious pain and as a result was dispatched by City Police officers. It is believed that this was the same bear cub which was struck by a motor vehicle on the 19th of September and fled into the bush area at that time.

Industrial accident

On the 20th of September 2012 at approximately 9am, Ambulance and Fire Services attended at Eternal Monuments located at 1281 Great Northern Road for an industrial accident. A 25 year old male was transported to Sault Area Hospital with serious injuries. As a result of the accident Sault Ste. Marie Police Services and The Ministry of Labour were notified and a joint investigation was commenced. At approximately 7pm City Police were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. The case is now being investigated as a Coroner’s Investigation.

Mischief

39 year old Israel Neveau attended to the City Police station on Thursday evening and turned himself in  to police on an outstanding mischief charge. It is alleged that on the 1st of September Mr. Neveau damaged a door at the Roosevelt Hotel. He is to appear in Provincial Court on October 22nd.
