Dacey & Trunk Motor Vehicle Collision City Police attended at the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the 21st of September at 6:45 am at the intersection of Trunk Road and Dacey Road.

City Police attended at the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the 21st of September at 6:45 am at the intersection of Trunk Road and Dacey Road. It is alleged that a blue 1987 GMC pick-up operated by a 21 year-old female was travelling northbound on Dacey Road, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Trunk Road and then pulled out to turn westbound onto Trunk Road. The vehicle was struck by a 1997 black GMC Sierra pick-up that was eastbound on Trunk Road being operated by a 28 year-old male. The female, 21 year-old Jamie McMillan of 1143 Echo River Road in Echo Bay Ontario received minor injuries that did not require medical attention and she has been charged with one count of fail to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The vehicles received severe damage.

The following four persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 30 year-old male was arrested on the 21st of September at 1:10 am at his east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 21st of September just after 1 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his wife at their residence and he assaulted her by throwing her on a bed, he pinned her there and tried to choke her. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention.

2) A 17 year-old male youth was arrested on the 20th of September at 2:30 pm on Northern Avenue and charged with one count of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 20th of September at 11:30 am the accused got into an argument with his girlfriend in a parking lot of a business on Trunk Road and he assaulted her by throwing a hot cup of coffee at her. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention. When officers were interviewing the victim she reported to them that she was also dragged into a bush area off of St. George’s Avenue and sexually assaulted by the accused on the 16th of September at around 9:30 pm.

3) 48 year-old Leta Hansan of #3-125 Gore Street was arrested on the 20th of September at 4:35on Black Road and charged with one count of fail to appear for prints and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 20th of September at around 4:30 pm the accused was found walking in an intoxicated condition in the area of Black Road and McNabb Street. When officers ran a check on her they discovered there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest for failing to appear for fingerprints and breach of recognizance.

4) 32 year-old Camilla Whitehawk of #209-627 Macdonald Avenue was arrested on the 21st of September at 2:40 am at Canada Customs on Huron Street and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over legal limit. It is alleged that the accused was operating her vehicle at 2:28 am and was stopped and checked at the Canadian Customs checkpoint and at the time she was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Impaired Driving

46 year-old Rodney Walsh of 630 Wellington Street West was arrested on the 21st of September at 2:01 am on Hudson Street and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over legal limit. It is alleged that on the 21st of September just before 2 am the accused was observed by city police driving his Ford pick-up northbound on George Street. The vehicle nearly failed to stop for the stop sign at Queen Street West. The vehicle was observed weaving in the lane on Queen Street West. The vehicle was stopped and at the time the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused is to appear in court on the 22nd of October.

Assault

A 68 year-old male was arrested on the 20th of September at 9:20 pm at his downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal argument with his wife at their downtown residence and he assaulted her by pushing her and slapping her. There were no injuries reported. The accused is to appear in court on the 22nd of October.

Charged with Riding Bike on Sidewalk

On the 20th of September at 8:27 am city police attended on Trunk Road in front of Tim Hortons for a collision involving a Nissan Altima and a bicycle. The 33 year-old female cyclist was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that the Nissan Altima that was being operated by a 38 year-old female driver, was attempting to exit from Tim Hortons when it was in collision with the bicycle that was travelling northbound on the sidewalk on Trunk Road.
The cyclist, 33 year-old Tasha-Marie Hall of 164 South Market Street was charged with person over 10 years of age – operate bicycle on sidewalk under the City of Sault Ste. Marie By-law.

Collision on Pine & McNabb

City police attended at a motor vehicle collision on the 20th of September at 10:15 pm at the intersection of Pine Street and McNabb Street that sent one person to hospital by ambulance. It is alleged that a 1993 Ford Pick-up was southbound on Pine Street when a Chev car that was travelling northbound on Pine Street turned left in front of it onto Mcnabb Street and the two vehicles collided. An 83 year-old female passenger in the Chev vehicle was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The vehicles were both severely damaged.

83 year-old William Lawrence of #308-130 Allard Street was charged with one count of left turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
