Regarding the Earlier Release this morning about the suspicious males Canvassing

City police have spoken to the Regional Director for Dynamic Circulation Incorporated, Robert Gauthier around 11:15 am this morning. He advised his company is in the business of selling magazine subscriptions door to door and at the same time they also sponsor an organization for the past 15 years called (VOV) Victims of Violence-Canadian Center for Missing Children, they are an organization out of Ottawa and can be reached at 1-613-233-0052. The company employs mostly young people right out of high school or university and they travel across Canada doing this full time. Every magazine subscription that they sell, a small portion of the cost of the subscription goes to the Victims of Violence. They do not actively fundraise. The sales reps carry company picture identification and along with that a catalogue of the types of magazines they sell and also a receipt book to write the orders up. They have been coming to the Sault for at least 17 years and have had no problems in the past.

The complaints received over the past few days, approximately five complaints, may have been legitimate canvassers for this agency. City police were contacted by two homeowners this morning and did speak with two of the canvassers that attended at these residences. The two males fit the descriptions of the two suspicious persons as earlier released. At this time, proper identification for the agency was presented to police, with one of the males advising he had forgotten his identification when attending at a residence over the past couple of days.
However, Police would still like to remind the public that if persons canvassing at their door, fundraising or attempting to sell them something and they are not producing identification for the Agency they advised they representing, they should still be cautious.
