Robbery Investigation At 11:17 pm last evening, a male reported to police that he was robbed by three persons, not known to him while he was walking on Queen Street East in the area of the court house.

At 11:17 pm last evening, a male reported to police that he was robbed by three persons, not known to him while he was walking on Queen Street East in the area of the court house. The victim advised he was kicked several times and had his backpack taken. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The suspects were described as: First male was in his 20’s, with curly hair, husky build, wearing a white sweater black pants and glasses. Another male was described as being in his 20’s, tall and thin, wearing a long, black jacket and black jeans. No description for third male.

Theft of Welding Cable from West Street Construction Yard
Approximately 800 feet of copper line welding cable was stolen from a construction yard in the 100 block of West Street overnight from the 31st of October – 1st of November.

Male Arrested for Robbery at Local Grocery Store
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Michael Gingras of 2122 Mission Road in Goulais River yesterday afternoon and charged him with two counts of Robbery and four counts of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that on the 4th of November at approximately 1:53 pm the accused attended at Dean’s Food Basics on Pine Street and stole a number of meat products from the store. When he was approached by the store security officer in the lobby, he assaulted the officer and attempted to flee. The accused continued to fight with security and other staff employees that assisted until police arrived. The security guard received non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention. At the time of the incident, the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be good and was prohibited from entering the store. When officers ran a check on the male they discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a similar robbery incident that occurred on the 12th of October at Food Basic’s on Trunk Road. During this incident, the accused allegedly assaulted a staff member that attempted to apprehend him leaving the store with a basket full of meat that he didn’t pay for. The accused was able to flee from the scene before police arrived. At the time of the incident he was on probation with conditions that he keep the peace, be good and was also prohibited from entering the store due to past shoplifting incidents.

Assault
A 15 year-old female was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday at 4:55 pm at her residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that she assaulted a relative at her residence on the 4th of November. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention as a result.

Shoplifting Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 26 year-old Stephen Moor of 57 Jemmette Street on the 4th of November at 12:48 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that he attended at the store yesterday and stole a pair of boots. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. When police ran a check on him they discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation and breach of a release document. He is to appear in court on the 6th of December.

Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property
Detectives with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Division arrested 46 year-old Leonard Nolan of 66 Gran Street and charged him with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. It is alleged that on the 1st of November the accused attended at a local jewellery store and attempted to have a piece of stolen jewellery appraised. The jewellery had been reported stolen in a residence break and enter on Amherst Street that occurred the week of the 14th of August 2010. The accused is to appear in court on the 6th of December

Two Impaired Driving Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 25 year-old Jamie Lato of 12 Ellis Road last night at 9:50 pm on Allens Side Road and charge him with one count of Impaired Driving and one count of Fail to Provide Breath Sample. It is alleged that at 9:39 pm last evening, police received a call regarding an impaired driver in the area of Elizabeth Street that had driven up on a boulevard and lawn. Officers received the vehicle description and were able to locate and stop it on Allen Side Road. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time. The accused refused to provide a breath sample upon demand by officers. He is to appear in court on the 6th of December.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old William Brown of 57 Adrian Drive at 11:50 pm on Hudson Street and charged him with one count of Impaired Driving and one count of Consume over the Legal Limit. His vehicle was allegedly stopped by police on Hudson Street and at the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 7th of December.
