A theft of cash was reported from a business office at Canadian Mental Health on Queen Street today.

10 collisions

Officers attended 10 motor vehicle collisions today in addition to numerous collisions that were reported at the Accident Reporting Centre.

Assault:

On the 29 Nov12 the accused, 20 year old Peter Armstrong of no fixed address, while at the Sault Area Hospital, assaulted two staff members. It alleged that he grabbed a staff member by the waist/thigh area and threw him to the ground. This caused the staff member to land on his back and cause injury to their back and elbow.  While the accused was being restrained by another staff member, he spit in their face and was charged with assault on that member as well.  He will appear in court on 07 January 2013.

Impaired:

23 year old Christopher Villeneuve of 62 Henrietta Ave. has been arrested and charged with operating vehicle while impaired and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.  On November 30th 2012 at approximately 02:07 a.m. police received an anonymous call regarding an intoxicated male leaving the Canadian Motel on Pim Street in Sault Ste. Marie, driving a red Pontiac Grand Am.

Officers located the vehicle driving north bound on Carmen’s Way and observed the vehicle to be swerving continuously from the centre line into the right lane and then travel north bound straddling both north bound lanes. The vehicle then turned left on Conmee Avenue without signaling and the vehicle was subsequently stopped on Conmee Avenue, east of Wellington Street West. Christopher Villeneuve was identified as the driver and was in the company of a female passenger. In addition to physical signs of impairment Villeneuve exited the vehicle and was observed to be unsteady on his feet. He was transported to the police station where he subsequently failed the breathalyzer test. He will be in court on 07 January 2013.

Break and Enter:

On November 30th shortly after midnight, two young persons attempted to break into a garage on Idaho Dr. Police were called and were able to locate and arrest two males, one age 16 and the other age 17. The young persons were charged with Break and Enter, Trespass by Night and Breach of Probation. One youth has additionally been charged with Assault Police. Both young persons will attend in bail court on Nov.30th at 10:00 am.

On November 29th shortly after 10:00 pm Police Officers were called to investigate another a break and enter to a residence on Cambridge Place. A flat screen TV and jewellery were stolen.
