In an unusual midnight press release, city police released some details on an accident that occurred yesterday at 2:45pm at the corner of Boundary Road and Bennett Boulevard.

A 1999 white 4-door Plymouth Breeze was eastbound through the intersection and failed to negotiate the curve going into Chambers Avenue. The vehicle ran off the road and struck a cement power pole.

The vehicle was extensively damaged. The driver received minor injuries for which she was treated and released from hospital. The 17-year-old female driver has been charge with dangerous driving. The police investigation continues.


THREAT INVOLVED WEAPON
Yesterday at approximately 9:00 p.m., City Police were called to investigate a threatening complaint that took place in the 100 block of Second Line West. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two persons.

It is alleged that a male and a female threatened the complainant with a weapon. Charged with Assault with a Weapon is: Paul Michael Joseph, age 19, of 196 Second Line West. The co-accused, Corey Paquette, age 19, of Hwy 552 Goulais River is charged with Threatening. Both accused persons will be appearing in court on Jan 5th, at 9:00 a.m.. The weapon in question was a kitchen utensil.


BREAK & ENTERS
City Police are investigating one break and enter from over night. Carmine’s Home-style Pizza located at 843 Queen Street East was broken into yesterday. It is not yet known what was stolen. Entry was gained by breaking the front door window.

There were two reports of stolen snow blowers. One was from the 100 block of Panoramic Drive and the other was from the 200 block of St. Patrick Street.

Thieves were also busy getting ready for Christmas as two Christmas trees were stolen from the 100 block of Cambridge Pl. and some Christmas lights were stolen from the 100 block of Sutton Pl.


STOLEN VEHICLES
During the past 24 hours the Sault Ste Marie Police Services received 3 reports of stolen motor vehicles. At approx. 6:20 a.m. yesterday, a 1990 Dodge Shadow was reported stolen from the 300 block of Farwell Terrace. This vehicle was located a short time later behind the Roosevelt Hotel.

Yesterday evening a 2001 Ford Explorer was stolen from the parking lot of A&P on Northern Avenue. This vehicle is described as a 2-door black pick-up with gray running boards and a roof rack. Lic. # AKSK 525.

The third theft was of a 1992 Dodge Shadow blue in colour. This vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of Grosvenor Avenue at approximately 5:30 a.m. today. The licence number is 121 NPD. If anyone sees any of these vehicles they are asked to contact the City Police.
