Two Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 29 year-old male at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre last night on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of threaten death, two counts of breach of probation, one count of personation with intent and one count of obstruct peace officer.

It is alleged that on November 18th at approximately 2:55 am officers stopped and checked a vehicle on Pim Street that the accused was operating, and at the time, he was charged with driving without a licence and drive while under suspension. Officers discovered later that the accused falsely identified himself to avoid being arrested on a domestic related warrant for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend on the 16th of November.

At the time the accused was on probation with conditions that he keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested an 18 year-old male last night and charged him with one county of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 24th day of November the accused got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend at her residence and smashed her laptop computer. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Fraud Unit Investigation Results in Theft Charges

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Fraud Unit arrested 74 year-old Ronald Harris of 338 Wellington Street East on the 24th of November at 2 pm at the police station and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of theft over $5,000.

It is alleged that between the 1st of November, 2010 and the 27th of May, 2011, the accused stole money in the amount of $11,482.19 from Superior Business Solutions Ltd also known previously as AK Graphix/Luncheon Digest where he was employed. Superior Business Solutions produced, on a daily basis, a small newsletter which went out to various vendors in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was in charge of soliciting and advertising for the newsletter and was also responsible for collecting funds from merchants.

The $11,482.19 was pocketed by the accused and not turned over to the business. It is further alleged that in November 2010, the accused took possession of fundraising calendars to sell for the Royal Canadian Legion. Approximately $1,020 of the fundraising money was not turned in by the accused.

The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012.

Male Youth Arrested for Threatening

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15 year-old male youth on the 24th of November and charged him with one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 24th of November the accused threatened to stab two students while at a local high school. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of January 2101.

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

• A garage and two residences on Rushmere Drive were entered yesterday. A Compaq laptop, some cash and jewellery was reported stolen.

• A residence on Superior Drive was entered overnight around 12:28 am. Nothing was reported stolen.

• A residence on Alexandra Street was entered yesterday. A surround sound stereo and jewellery were reported taken.

• A garage on Herrick Street was entered sometime over the past two months.

• A residence on John Street was entered yesterday. An X-Box, X-Box games and a computer monitor was reported stolen.

• A truck parked on Cathcart Street had diesel gas siphoned from it.

• A parking permit was stolen from Princess Cresc.

• A vehicle on Shafer Avenue was gone through and some damage was reported.

• A vehicle window was smashed in a parking lot on Queen Street East. It is not known if anything was taken at the time.
