Female arrested for theft under $5,000 Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old female for theft under $2,000. It is alleged that the accused stole merchandise valued at $199.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old female for theft under $2,000. It is alleged that the accused stole merchandise valued at $199.99 from the Sears Store in the Station Mall. Laura Williams, age 38, of 262 Wellington St. W. Apt # 4 is charged with one count of theft under $2,000. Ms. Williams is to appear in court on December 19th at 9:00 am.

Three persons to appear in bail court today

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on Wellington St. E. regarding counterfeit money. As a result of the search warrant two males were arrested and charged with various offences.

It is alleged that on November 17th the two accused males were in possession and uttered counterfeit United States $5, $20 and $100 bills. During the search of the residence the officers located instruments for making counterfeit money, a 32 caliber handgun, ammunition for the handgun and property obtained by crime. At the time of these offences both accused were on probation and were prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

Henry Cadreau, age 29, of 61Wellington St. E. Apt # 2 and Shawn Mearow, age 30, of 2643 Mission Rd, Goulais River are charged with possession of a weapon obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession contrary to an order, two counts of careless storage, uttering counterfeit money, possession of instruments for making counterfeit money and possession of property obtained by crime.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team arrested a 27-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance, resist arrest and breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused male was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by the police.

Upon investigating the accused officers saw a substance believed to be a controlled drug on the seat beside the accused. When the accused was asked to exit the vehicle the accused refused and resisted the officers. The accused was arrested for resist arrest. And possession of a controlled substance believed to be crack cocaine.

It is further alleged that at the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release.

The estimated street value of the drug is $ 50.00 Nicholas Fata, age 27, of 415 Charles St. is charged with one count of resist arrest, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation.

Male arrested for possession of stolen property and breach of probation

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old male for possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle with plates that were reported stolen. At the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to be good. Matthew Evans-Moreau, age 22, of 2683 Great Northern Rd is charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of probation.

Break and enter

A shed was entered in the 100 block of Central St. A generator was stolen.

Mischief

A vehicle was damaged in the 100 block of Willowdale St.

A lawn was damaged in the 100 block of Sackville Rd.

Theft

A gas generator was stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Goulais Ave.

Reminder to Public

The Santa Claus Parade is scheduled to take place this Saturday November 19th at 6:00 pm. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists that they will need to seek alternate routes that evening. Starting at 5:00 pm Queen Street East between Pine Street and Pim Street will be closed to allow for the line up of the participants in the parade.

At 6:00 pm the entire stretch of Queen Street East between Pine Street and Gore Street will be closed. Gore Street itself will remain open. Uniformed Police Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will have all the roads that intersect with Queen St.E. closed. You will not be able to cross any of the side streets. Once the parade has progressed through the route, then the roads will be opened up again.

Further, there will no parking on Queen Street East from Pim Street to Gore Street between 5:00 pm and 7:00pm. Vehicles parked on the parade route after 5:00 pm will towed away at the owner’s expense.

If you are leaving the Station Mall or other down town businesses, please utilize Gore Street.
