Two males arrested regarding a stolen vehicle pursuit on the 8th of May On the 8th of May at approximately 11:56 am city police observed a stolen Dodge Stratus travelling eastbound in the area of Lyons Avenue near Patrick Street.

On the 8th of May at approximately 11:56 am city police observed a stolen Dodge Stratus travelling eastbound in the area of Lyons Avenue near Patrick Street. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to stop. A short pursuit was initiated. The vehicle stopped in the area of Queen Street West near West Street and both male occupants fled on foot. The Canine Unit attended in the area and a track was commenced.
The two males were apprehended a short time later in the area.
The vehicle had been stolen on the 7th of May at approximately 9 pm from the parking lot of the Station Mall.

As a result the following two males were arrested:
1) 24 year-old Adam Shewchuk of 609 Queen Street West has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of flight from police and one count of dangerous driving. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
2) 19 year-old Jordan Morrar of 36 Nichol Avenue has been charged with one count of take auto without consent and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. He is to appear in court on the 9th of June.

Impaired Driver Arrest

47 year-old Douglas Meadows of 362 Second Avenue was arrested on the 8th of May at 7:37 pm on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that city police observed a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Goulais Avenue near Fourth Line West swerve to the shoulder and cross the centre line on two occasions. The vehicle was stopped and officers discovered that the driver, the accused, was under the influence of alcohol.
He is to appear in court on the 9th of June.

Defamation Charges

Two female youths, ages 15 and 16, were charged at a local high school on the 8th of May around 9:20 am and charged with one count of defamatory libel. It is alleged that on the 7th of May the two wrote insulting, false statements on a photograph of a fellow student, made several photo copies of it and posted them around the school.
Both females are to appear in court on the 10th of June.

Shoplifter Arrested

25 year-old Mary Louise Morine of 31 Johnson Avenue was arrested at Rome’s Independent Grocers on the 8th of May at 11:35 am and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused attended at Rome’s and stole a pair of sunglasses. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 9th of June.

Collision involving Vehicle and Bicycle

On the 8th of May at approximately 12:00 pm, city police responded to collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle on Trunk Road. It is alleged that a vehicle that was being operated by a 35 year-old female, was exiting from a business parking lot onto Trunk Road when it struck a cyclist that was travelling westbound on the sidewalk. The 32 year-old female cyclist was transported to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The cyclist was charged with one count of person over the age of 10 years ride bicycle on a sidewalk under the City Bylaw.
