Possession Yesterday morning city police arrested a 16-year-old female and charged her with one count of possession of a substance and two counts of breach of probation.

Yesterday morning city police arrested a 16-year-old female and charged her with one count of possession of a substance and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that while attending a local high school the accused had possession and was under the influence of marihuana. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good and not to possess any controlled drugs. The accused will be appearing in bail court today.

Shoplifting from No Frills

Yesterday morning at approx. 11:50 am city police were called to the No Frills Store on Korah Rd regarding a shoplifter. It is alleged that the accused entered the store, selected approx. $47.00 worth of meat items and then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. Charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000 is 31-year-old Edward Saunders, of 151 Goulais Ave.

Two Charged with Obstruct Police

In the early morning hours of Wednesday May 1st city police had occasion to investigate two males walking on Henrietta St. It is alleged that one of the males, later identified as: Donald Jordan, gave police a false name to avoid being arrested on a warrant. The second male, Aaron Blackned, assisted the first male in obstructing police. It was later learned that the accused had falsely identified himself and was subsequently arrested the warrant. Charged are:

1. Donald Jordan, age 22, of 110 Wilding Ave Apt. # 1. He is charged with one count of obstruct police, one count of breach of probation and on a warrant for break and enter. Mr. Jordan attended bail court yesterday morning.

2. Aaron Blackned, age 21, of 361 Wellington St. W. Apt # 1. He is charged with one count of obstruct police. He will be appearing in court on June2nd at 9:00 am.

Police Seek Witnesses to Accident

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service traffic office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred at approx. 1:25 pm at Second Line E. and the entrance to Wal-Mart (between Old Garden River Rd and Great Northern Rd.). Involved were a 4 door blue 1998 Chev Cavalier and a white 2004 GMC Safari van. Anyone with information on this occurrence is asked to call the traffic office.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating three reports of mischief to vehicles.

Vehicles were damaged in the 800 block of Old garden River Rd, the 100 block of Princeton Dr, and the 100 block of Queen St. E.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received three reports of vending machines entered at three local hotels.

Machines were entered and damaged at the Holiday Inn, The Water Tower Inn and The Quality Inn. All three incidents occurred between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Two male persons of interest were seen leaving the Quality Inn at approx. 6:10 pm yesterday. These two males are described as:

1. Male, white, approx. 18 years of age, with an orange coloured Mohawk hair cut, heavy set. He was last seen wearing plaid shorts.

2. Male, white, approx. 18 years of age, tall, skinny. Brown coloured hair. Last seen wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans.

City police also received two other reports of theft yesterday.

A CCM racing bicycle was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Texas Ave and electronic equipment was stolen from a vehicle which was parked in the 500 block of Placid Ave.
