The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance on locating a missing 13 year old youth. Arron Alton has been missing since 04 May 2008 but has been seen in the downtown area and has been in regular contact with family members.

Arron ALTON is described as Caucasian with brown hair and blue eyes, height 164cm, weight 45.5 kg with a round scar on his right cheek. Alton was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

Despite his family contact Alton is still considered missing and a child in need of protection until he is located and returned home. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Arron ALTON is asked to contact police at
949-6300.

Notice to Public re: possible fraud scam

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service has received information, from the local office of the Canadian Red Cross, that a male person has been seeking donations and contributions for the Burma Cyclone Relief Fund and or the Chinese Earthquake victims. The public should be advised that the Canadian Red Cross does not solicit funds door to door and it does not request Visa or MasterCard Credit Card numbers over the telephone. If such an individual has approached you or attempted to received funds from you please contact Sarah Digasparro at the Canadian Red Cross # 759-4547.

Two individuals appearing in Bail Court

1) A 41-year-old male was arrested early yesterday morning after he allegedly assaulted his ex-wife by ripping her clothing off her and grabbing her by the face. The victim did not require medical attention for any injuries. The male is charged with one count of assault.

2) Yesterday evening city police arrested a 23-year-old female on several outstanding warrants. Donna Purvis, age 23, of 98 Bloor St.W. Apt. # 2 is charged with one count of fail to appear for court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for September 10th 2007. The accused was originally charged with assault, failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to appear in court.

Drug arrests

1) Yesterday afternoon at approx. 3:00 pm city police arrested a male person on Pardee Ave and charged him with breach of an undertaking and possession of a substance. It is alleged that James Gilbert, age 50, of 483 Second Ave breached a condition of his undertaking release order by failing to notify city police of a change in his address. It is further alleged that upon his arrest he was discovered to be in possession of trace amounts of cocaine. Mr. Gilbert will be appearing in court on June 16th at 9:00 am.

2) Early this morning city police arrested 55-year-old Frank Naccarato, of 166 Greenfield Dr.and charged him with possession of a substance. It is alleged that while working the slag dump, on Leigh’s Bay Rd.
Mr. Naccarato was in possession of approx. 14.5 grams of marihuana and approx. 3 grams of cannabis resin. Frank Naccarato is charged with one count of possession of a substance and will be appearing in court on June 16th at 9:00 am.

Break and Enters Reported Yesterday

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received a report of a break and enter and an attempted break and enter. Electronic items were stolen from a break in at a residence in the 300 block of Fifth Ave yesterday. An attempted break in was reported at a residence in the 500 block of Korah Rd.

Mischief reports from yesterday

City police received two reports of mischief yesterday. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Spruce St. was keyed and a home in the 100 block of Rush Ave had a front window broken.
