Parade on Queen St Saturday

The Sault Ste Marie Police Traffic Services want to advise the public that on the 9th of June 2007 there will be a minor traffic disruption along Queen Street East for a short car parade put on by the ‘Wings and Wheels Days’ at the Bush Plane Museum. Parade cars will line up on Queen Street East starting at East Street. The parade route will run along Queen Street to Andrew Street, south on Andrew Street to St. Mary’s River Drive, to Elgin Street, on to Bay Street and then to the Bush Plane Museum. The Parade will begin at 7 pm and involves up to 80 classic cars.

Reminder to Motorists

Also Traffic Services would like to remind motorists that when driving if should they encounter an intersection where the traffic lights are not operating, such as in the case of a power failure, they are to treat the intersection as if it were a four way stop.

Please be advised that the above person, who was the subject of a news release yesterday morning, has been located and is fine. Thank you to the public and to the media for your assistance.

The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) City police concluded their investigation into a break and enter to a residence and a garage on Bay Road that occurred between the 20th and the 21st of May. As a result two persons were arrested last night:
22 year-old Thomas Kidder of 23 Elliot Road was arrested just after 9 pm at his residence and 23 year-old Aaron O’Hara of 264 Conmee Avenue was arrested at the city police station just after 7 pm. Both males are charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of break, enter and commit. It is alleged that between the 20th and the 21st May the two accused broke into a residence and a garage on Bay Road and stole video equipment, a laptop, electronic supplies and numerous power tools. The investigation began when city police checked the two accused in a vehicle on Hampton Road on the 21st of May around 2:30 am at which time they were found to be in possession of the stolen property from the residence and garage on Hampton Road.

2) 20 year-old David Rous of 84 Glasgow Avenue was arrested on the 7th of June just before 1 pm on John Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 7th of June at 12:45 pm the accused attended at the H & R Lash Store on John Street and stole approximately $800.00 worth suits. The accused was stopped by an employee when he left the store without paying for the suits and city police were contacted. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be on good behaviour. The accused is to appear in court on the 16th of July.

Break & Enter and Breach

31 year old Lori Legault of 14 South Gladstone Avenue was arrested yesterday around 3pm and charged with one count of break, enter and commit and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was located in a basement apartment on Laura Street around 3 pm on the 7th of June by the superintendent. The apartment owner, who is known to the accused was away at the time and gave instructions that the accused not attend in the apartment. City police were contacted and the arrest was made. The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of July.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) A residence on Wilding Avenue was entered between the 5th of June after 1:30 pm and the 7th of June at 4:30 pm. Items reported stolen were a coffee maker, a microwave, a VCR, a television, some food and some toiletries.

2) A residence on Charles Street was entered on the 7th of June between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. A men’s leather jacket was reported stolen.
