Robbery Charges Laid Just after midnight this morning patrol officers attended in the 300 block of John Street regarding a robbery call. It is alleged that 4 persons forced their way into the residence and pushed the 72-year old male victim down.

Just after midnight this morning patrol officers attended in the 300 block of John Street regarding a robbery call. It is alleged that 4 persons forced their way into the residence and pushed the 72-year old male victim down. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken. The victim did not receive any injuries in the incident. 3 persons have been taken into custody and the 4th suspect is being sought by police. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on this matter. 21-year old Rosemary Pheasant of 16 Hughes Street has been charged with one count of robbery, 23-year old John Corbiere of 68 Cathcart Street, rear apartment has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of break and enter and commit an offence, and 33-year old Daniel Saris of 187 Tancred Street has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of break and enter and commit an offence. All three will appear in court on July 25th.

Possession For the Purpose of Trafficking

A 36-year-old male and a 14-year-old youth were both arrested last evening and charged with one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. Patrol officers on routine patrol stopped the car the male was operating. The male was wanted for non-criminal related matters and when he was arrested and searched officers located a large amount of cash as well as 3 grams of cocaine. The street value of the drugs is approximately $300. Both persons were taken into custody. The youth will appear in court on July 27th and the adult male will appear in bail court today. The name of the adult is not being released, as it would lead to the identity of the young person.


Impaired Driving Charges Laid

Just before 2:30 am this morning patrol officers arrested 26-year old Nickolas Haldemann of no fixed address in relation to a motor vehicle collision. A pickup truck operated by 29-year old Matthew Comfort of 6 Dufferin Avenue was stopped in the parking lot of 1 Great Northern Road. It is alleged that van operated by Nickolas Haldemann approached the Comfort truck from behind and struck it. The Comfort vehicle received light damage and the Haldemann van received moderate damage. When officers attended to investigate the collision they found the accused to be intoxicated. As a result Haldemann was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 25th. The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of driver motor vehicle no licence.


3 Reports of Break and Enter

1) Yesterday morning a homeowner in the 100 block of Second Line West discovered that his garage had been broken into in the last few days. Thieves made off with a Coleman generator, 2 cases of beer and a bottle of Bailey’s.

2) A shed in the 100 block of Braemar Bay was entered earlier this week and thieves made off with 2 chain saws, a toolbox and a couple of downriggers.

3) Yesterday sometime during the afternoon an evening hours thieves entered a home in the 100 block of Robin Street but it does not appear that anything was taken.
