3 Persons will Appear in Bail Court this Morning all Related to Domestic Matters:

1) A 29-year old male was arrested just after 6 pm last night. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon the accused called his ex-girlfriend while on conditions not to communicate with the accused. The male has been charged with one count of breach of a release document.

2) A 23-year old male was arrested just after 11 pm last night. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon this male called his ex-girlfriend and left a message on her phone. The accused was on conditions not to communicate with the female. The male has been charged with one count of breach of a release document.

3) A 22-year old female was arrested just before midnight last night. Around 11:30 pm last night officers were called to a downtown residence regarding a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her common-law husband by kicking him in the ribs and punching him in the face. It is also alleged that the accused damaged her mother’s property including a pair of glasses and the telephone. At the time of the offence the accused was on conditions not to molest, harass or annoy her common-law husband. The accused was arrested and has been charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release order.

Break and Enter

Yesterday afternoon just after 12:30 pm City Police attended in the area of 500 Moss Road for a break and enter in progress. Patrol officers attended in the area and contained the area around the residence. With the area being contained the Canine Unit and Tazer were able to track down one suspect successfully. 20-year old Dustin Schrek of 29 London Street was arrested and has been charged with one count of break and enter with the intent to commit an offence. He will appear in court on July 25th. Officers are actively looking for a second male wanted in connection with this break and enter. Nothing was taken in the break and enter.

In addition to the break and enter on Moss Road, City Police received 2 other reports of break and enters yesterday. A home in the 100 block of Wemyss was entered overnight on the 15th and 16th. Thieves made off with a DVD player, a VCR and several CD’s. Thieves also attempted to break into the Wilcox Building located at 510 Queen Street East overnight on the 15th and 16th, but were unsuccessful in gaining entry.

Possession Charges Laid

Yesterday afternoon City Police along with the Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 1 Sherwood Parkway. Officers located 10 morphine tablets, 200 codeine tablets and approximately 1 gram of cocaine with a street value of just under $5,000. Officers also located several leather jackets, a fish finder, and a handgun, all of which had all been stolen during a break and enter into a home in the 400 block of Albert Street West last month. 2 prohibited weapons, consisting of a flick knife and a switchblade, were also located. 59-year old Ronald Carricato of that address was arrested and has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime. The accused will appear in court on July 25th.

Motor Vehicle Collision

A two car motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday around 12:30 pm at the intersection of Great Northern Road and Northern Avenue sent 2 people to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A truck operated by 42-year old Randy Graway of 841Airport Road was traveling northbound on Great Northern Road. It is alleged that van operated by 77-year old Wilbert Hill of 410-18 Ferguson Avenue was traveling southbound on Great Northern Road and turned east onto Northern Avenue where it was struck by the Graway truck. Both drivers were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Damage to both vehicles is described as severe. Mr. Hill has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of left turn-fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.
