Youth Charged with Threatening Death

A 15-year old youth will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested yesterday morning. It is alleged that between the 18th of May and the 9th of June the accused failed to abide by conditions on their probation orders, such as failing to abide by curfew hours, reside where directed by probation officers, and keep the peace and be good. It is further alleged that the accused also threatened to harm an immediate family member on June 8th. The youth has been charged with one count or threatening death or bodily harm and 7 counts of breach of probation. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with Dangerous Driving

22-year old Christopher Heald of 29B Finns Bay Road, Echo Bay was arrested around 10 pm last night after his driving actions caught the attention of a police officer. It is alleged that the accused was driving a pickup truck and was swerving from lane to lane on Bay Street. A radar gun used also indicated that the accused was traveling 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Officers caught up to the vehicle at Queen Street East and Bay Street and activated the emergency lights. It is alleged that the accused continued along Queen Street East at a high rate of speed before officers were able to stop the accused at Queen Street East and East Street. Pedestrian traffic was high in the area at the time. When officers stopped the accused he was arrested in relation to his driving. When officers searched the accused they located 2 grams of marijuana on him. The accused was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of dangerous driving, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and 2 counts of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Breach of Release Order

18-year old John Bennett of 2-321 Albert Street East will also appear in bail court this morning after he was arrested just after 1 am this morning. It is alleged that officers stopped the accused in the downtown area and when asked to identify himself to police he failed to provide his real name. Upon further questioning the accused admitted to being Mr. Bennett. A police query revealed that the accused was on a release document with conditions not to consume alcohol and to be in his residence from 11 pm to 7 am daily. Officers noted that the accused had been drinking. Mr. Bennett has been charged with one count of obstruct police and two counts of breach of a release order. He will also be appearing in bail court this morning.


Female Charged with Impaired Driving

26-year old Elizabeth Perry of 218 Gloucester Street main floor was arrested just after midnight this morning. Officers stopped the accused and her car on McNabb Street near the YMCA and found that she appeared to have been drinking. She was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of impaired driving. She will appear in court on July 11th.

Break and Enters

1)City Police attended at an address in the 200 block of Beverly Street yesterday afternoon and took a report of a break and enter to the home. It is alleged that between 10 am and 2 pm persons entered the home and removed a Play Station. Officers are continuing their investigation into this matter.

2)Last evening a homeowner in the 100 block of Asquith Street checked his closed trailer only to find that 2 kids Yamaha dirt bikes were taken as well as a kids Honda 4-wheeler. The thefts are believed to have occurred between 2 am and 6 am yesterday morning. Later in the evening the 4 wheeler was located on East Balfour, however the 2 dirt bikes are still missing.
