Five persons to appear in bail court Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “Street Team” arrested a 54-year-old male for possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Five persons to appear in bail court

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “Street Team” arrested a 54-year-old male for possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that when the accused was stopped for a traffic stop officers found 17 packages individual packages of crack cocaine in his vehicle. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused was on an undertaking release order to not possess any
non-prescription drugs. The total weight of the substance was 5 grams. David Saunders, age 54, of 700 Pine St. Apt # 4 is charged with one count of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of breach of an undertaking.

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old male for assault and breach of probation. It is alleged that the male assaulted his common-law –wife by pushing her. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation with conditions to not molest or annoy the victim and to keep the peace and be good. The accused is charged with two counts of breach of probation and one count of assault. The victim did not require medical attention.

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old female on two charges of breach of probation. It is alleged that at approximately 8:40 pm yesterday the accused was harassing and yelling at her common-law-husband. At the time of this offence the accused was on probation with conditions to not molest, harass or annoy her common-law-husband.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 56-year-old male for failing to appear for court and failing to appear for identification. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for the purpose of identification on June 27th 2010 and further that he failed to appear for court on July 5th 2010. Denis Theriault, age 56, of no fixed address is charged with one count of failing to appear for identification and one count of failing to appear for court.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 27-year-old Lindsay Perrault for breaching conditions of her recognizance release. It is alleged that the accused breached her 11:00 pm to 7:00 am curfew by being out of her residence at 3:50 am on Albert St. E. Uniformed officers were patrolling the area of Albert St. E., from Gore St to Dennis St, due to recent concerns about prostitution activities. Lindsay Perrault, age 27, of 864 Queen St. E is charged with one count of breach of a recognizance. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service will continue to monitor traffic and illegal activities in these neighbourhoods.

Male arrested for impaired driving

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 45-year-old male for impaired driving. It is alleged that yesterday morning at approximately 6:00 am the accused was driving a transport on Second Line E. in an erratic manner. When the vehicle was stopped by the police officers it was discovered that the driver was impaired by alcohol. Bhupinder Singh, age 45, of 17 Beaconfield Ave, Brampton, Ontario is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80 mgs. Mr. Singh will be appearing in court on Aug 30th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested on weapons charges

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 54-year-old male on charges of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, threatening death and assault with a weapon. It is alleged that at approximately 10:00 am yesterday morning the accused came out of his residence and threatened members of a work crew by waving a kitchen knife at them and stating he was going to kill them. Edward Reid, age 54, of 267 Brown St. is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threatening death and one count of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

Break and enter
A shed was entered in the 100 block of Johnson Ave. A 1981 Red Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen.

Mischief
A home in the 100 block of George St. N. was damaged.

Theft
A vehicle was entered in the 400 block of Bay St. last night. A purse was stolen.
A vehicle was entered in the 200 block of Fifth Line E. A wallet was stolen.
