Notice to Public of Fraudulent Contractors.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to warn the public of a fraudulent paving contractor that has been operating in both Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury in the past few days.
It is believed that two males are going door to door selling discounted asphalt paving for driveways. The suspects perform the less than satisfactory job and then offer to complete the job at a much higher price. The two suspects are described as:
1. Male white, 45-50 years of age, heavy build, British accent, beard, dark and gray receding hair.
2. Male white, 45-50 years of age, medium build, short hair.

The public is asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service if anyone matching these suspects attends at their residence.
When dealing with door to door sales persons ask them if it’s okay to call the police first to confirm that their business is operating legally.
The public is reminded that when dealing with door to door contractor they should always use caution and take the time to think the offer through before agreeing to any work. In many cases with these types of “deals” the job quality if often lacking and there are no guaranties or recourses.
