Traffic Interruptions for Rotary Fest Parade The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that the Rotary Fest Parade will be taking place tomorrow. As a result of this traffic interruptions will occur in the downtown area.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that the Rotary Fest Parade will be taking place tomorrow. As a result of this traffic interruptions will occur in the downtown area.
Queen Street will be closed from Pine Street to Simpson Street at 10am. People needing to attend the Sault Area Hospitals are being asked to use Kohler Street from Wellington Street East. Queen Street East will be closed from Pim Street to Gore Street beginning at 11am until the Parade has concluded at approximately 12:30pm.
Members of the community attending to view the parade are being asked to stay on the side walks and refrain from being on Queen Street while the parade is in motion. Drivers are being asked to be vigilant of pedestrians before and after the parade.

Impaired Driving

Yesterday evening just after 11pm City Police stopped a vehicle on Great Northern Road and checked the driver. Upon speaking to the female driver it was obvious that she had been drinking. 19 year old Kendal Louise McCracken of 58 Northridge Road was arrested and charged with 1 count of impaired driving and consume over the legal limit and 1 count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 20th of August.

13 year old Charged with Sexual Assault

A 13 year old boy has been charged with 2 counts of sexual assault. It is believed that sometime between June 15th and July 15th the accused sexually assaulted two young children who were known to him while playing in a tent in his back yard. The boy who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been released and is to appear in court on the 20th of July.

Breach of the Peace

Early this morning a 33 year old male attended and entered his ex-wife’s residence in the east end of the city. City Police were called to have the accused removed and the accused became belligerent and extremely aggressive with the officers and refused to leave. The accused was arrested just after 4am this morning and charged with one count of breach of the peace.

There were 4 break and enters reported yesterday.

1) Sometime between 10pm on the 18th of July and 6am on the 19th of July someone broke into the Crimson Ridge Golf Course club house. Nothing was reported stolen.

2) In the 800 block of Old Goulais Bay Road numerous wrenches; sockets and a grinder were stolen. This occurred sometime between 7pm on the 18th of July and 6am on the 19th of July.

3) Sometime overnight between the 18th and 19th of July someone broke into a garage in the 100 block of Softwood drive and stole a bicycle. The bicycle is valued at $1700 and is described as a black and white Banshee Morphine adult size mountain bike.

4) Someone broke into an office at 375 Pine Street also known as the Armories. An undisclosed amount of money was taken sometime between the 17th and 19th of July.
