Two persons to appear in bail court Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a male and female for possession of stolen property.
Two persons to appear in bail court
Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a male and female for possession of stolen property. It is alleged that at approximately 4:00 am the two accused entered a vehicle in the 700 block of Shafer Ave. and were then confronted by the homeowner. It is further alleged that the accused male sprayed the homeowner with pepper spray and fled. Police were called and after searching the area officers located the two accused on Carmen’s Way.

It is alleged that at this time the male accused escaped from police and fled onto Parliament St. After a foot chase officers re-arrested the accused. Upon searching the accused male it is alleged that he was in possession of a canister of dog repellant spray. It is further alleged that both accused persons were in possession of property stolen from complainant’s vehicle- that being a small amount of coin.

Annah Chakasim, age 19, of 177 Walnut St. is charged with one count of trespass by night and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Brandon Gratton-Rowat, age 19, of 177 Walnut St is charged with one count of trespass by night, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of administering a noxious thing, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of escape lawful custody.

Female arrested for failing to appear in court
Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested an 18-year-old female for failing to appear for court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear in court on June 7th. Ashleigh Bodin, age 18, of 601 Copper St. is charged with one count of failing to appear for court. Ms Bodin is to appear in court on Aug 22nd at 9:00 am.

Male charged with mischief
Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested an 18-year-old male for mischief. It is alleged that the accused punched a hole in a wall at a residence in the 100 block of Parliament St.

Chris Patterson, age 18 of 422 Charles St. is charged with one count of mischief. Mr. Patterson is to appear in court on Aug 22nd at 9:00 am.

Fire
The Sault Ste. Marie Police and the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department responded to three dumpster fires early this morning. Fires were started in dumpsters at the rear of R.J.’S Market, 238 Wellington St. W., Merritt’s Pharmacy, 314 Wellington St. W. and at Etienne Brule School, 241 Albert St. W. The fires were believed to have been set between 1:00 am and 1:40 am. Anyone having seen suspicious persons in these areas is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigative Office.

Theft
Electric tools were stolen from a business in the 500 block of Great Northern Rd.

Money was stolen from an office cash box, in the 100 block of Great Northern Rd.

Three bicycles were reported stolen. The bikes were stolen from the 100 block of Northwood St, the 200 block of Goulais Ave and the 200 block of Wallace Terr.
