Evening Report Arrests/Charged Persons: A 26 year old male was arrested for damaging his ex-girlfriends car.

Arrests/Charged Persons:

A 26 year old male was arrested for damaging his ex-girlfriends car. He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Monday 16th of July on the charges of mischief under $5000

A 79 year old female was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. The assault with a weapon charge stemmed from a domestic incident. She is scheduled to appear in court August 22 2012.

A neighbor dispute on Queen St West resulted in charges against both parties. It is alleged that Chico Rubiano got into an argument with his neighbor William Shubrook. During the argument Rubiano assaulted Shubrook and damaged his window. Shubrook in return stabbed Rubiano with a pair of scissors which caused non life threatening injuries. Chico Rubiano age 27 of 602 Queen St. W was charged with assault and mischief under $5000, he has a court date of Aug 20 21012. William Shubrook age 27 of 620 Queen St W was charged with aggravated assault and is scheduled to appear in Bail Court.

Break and Enters/Other Property Crimes:

Mischief to a vehicle in the 200 block of Great Northern Rd. and on Beverly St.

Theft of a snowblower from Elmwood.

Theft of a Cedar Wishing Well from the 700 block of Wellington St. West.

On July 11th, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call regarding a bear being shot by a citizen in the North end of the city. No one was injured during this incident; however the bear did die as a result of the gun shot.

It was found that charges were not appropriate in this incident; however citizens are reminded of the safety concerns of handling and discharging a firearm as well as the fact that it is an offence to discharge a firearm within city limits.

The safety of the public remains the number one priority of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. We will continue to treat all calls regarding wildlife encounters seriously as we attempt to resolve them in a way that balances the need to preserve our local wildlife and the protection of our citizens.

Morning Report

Arrests/Charged Persons:

18 year old Kaitland Rathbone-Laforge of no fixed address will be appearing in bail court today.  It is alleged that she failed to appear for fingerprints and failed to attend court on charges of theft and possession of stolen property.

39 year old Pascal Houle of 218 Glochester Street was arrested for mischief.  It is alleged that on the 12th of July 2012 he caused damage to a door at Sault Area Hospital.  He will appear in court on August 13th.
