ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES LAID Early this morning, at 2:10, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to a west end delivery shop regarding a disturbance.
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES LAID
Early this morning, at 2:10, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to a west end delivery shop regarding a disturbance. Upon the officer's arrival, it was learned that a male had attempted to stab the shop owner with a knife.

A description and direction of travel were given to the officers and a short time later a male was arrested. The accused, Daniel Favaro, age 21 of 116 Elmwood Avenue, has been charged with Attempt Murder.

It is alleged that Favaro, who had been drinking, entered the property of Flash Delivery and was causing a disturbance. When he was told to leave he became very agitated and pulled out a knife and tried to stab the owner in the neck.

A short struggle ensued, during which the shop owner suffered minor cuts to his hand and forearm. The accused was arrested a short distance from the scene of the crime. The knife used in the assault has not yet been located. Mr. Favaro will be attending Bail Court today at 1:30 p.m.


POLICE NAB TWO IN ROBBERY
At 12:30 a.m. today, City Police officers observed two males running from the area of RPM Sports on Great Northern Road. The two males, who had just broken into the RPM Sports Store, ran easterly into the bush area.

Police officers, with the assistance of the Canine Unit, subsequently located and arrested two men.

Charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Break-In Instruments are Ronald Masse, age 38 of 648 Portage Lane and Geoffrey Chamings, age 37 of 234 Beverly Street.

The two accused were found to be in possession of motorcycle helmets that were stolen from the break-in. They will both be attending Bail Court today at 1:30 p.m.

The City Police wish to thank the citizen that called to report two suspicious males walking south on Great Northern Road. Without your assistance this arrest might not have been made.


LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH STOLEN FROM HOME
On Wednesday between 10 and 11a.m., unknown person(s) broke into a residence in the 100 block of Alexandra Street. Entry was gained through an unlocked side door.

The thief(s) stole a large quantity of cash from a bedroom. If anyone has information regarding this break and enter lease contact City Police.
