News Update regarding Bomb Threat from last evening at Churchill Plaza: At approximately 6:55 pm last evening City Police received a bomb threat call on 911 that originated from a payphone in the 100 block of Northern Avenue.
News Update regarding Bomb Threat from last evening at Churchill Plaza:

At approximately 6:55 pm last evening City Police received a bomb threat call on 911 that originated from a payphone in the 100 block of Northern Avenue. The threat was that there was a bomb that was set to go off at the Churchill Plaza at 7:30 pm. Police immediately contacted and attended at the Churchill Plaza and advised all the businesses of the bomb threat call. There was nothing suspicious found during a search of the businesses and surrounding areas. Some businesses evacuated at the time and later re-opened.
Investigation Services with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service are continuing the investigation today. There are no other details to be released at this time.

MOTHER BEAR AND CUBS IN WALLS ROAD / SUNNSIDE BEACH AREA

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Ministry of Natural Resources would like to alert residents in the Walls Road / Sunnyside Beach area of the presence of a mother bear and cubs in their neighbourhood.

The M.N.R. has been attempting to trap the mother and cubs but so far attempts to do so have not been successful. Information has been received that the mother bear is apparently becoming increasingly aggressive in her attempts to locate food for her and the cubs. Area residents are advised to take precautions to remove any food or other attractants which might draw the mother bear into contact with people.

If you see a mother bear and cubs in the vicinity of Walls Road or Sunnyside Beach please contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police at 949-6300.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enter Reports:


• A residence in the 100 block of Dennis Street was entered sometime during the afternoon hours on the 8th of July. Medication was reported stolen.
• A residence in the 1000 block of Great Northern Road was entered sometime between the 8th of July after 6 pm and the 9th of July at noon. A number of items were stolen including a computer, two phones, and a television.

Thefts:

• Two Vehicles were entered on Market Street sometime overnight on the 8th of July. A wallet, CD’S and cash were reported stolen.
• The Union Hall reported American cash was stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot around noon on July 9th.
• An Evinrude Outboard motor and a trolling motor were reported stolen off a boat parked on the property of a residency we on Alagash Drive sometime overnight on the 8th of July.
• A bike was stolen from the 500 block of Albert Street West.

Mischief Report:

• A front door of a residence in the 600 block of Second Line West was smashed sometime overnight on the 8th of July.
