Motor Vehicle Collision

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Services Section is continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle collision, which occurred yesterday afternoon just before 3 pm at the intersection of Queen Street West and Huron Street. 3 persons were taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance. 1 person remains in the hospital for treatment of major injuries. The collision involved three vehicles, two of which sustained severe damage. Charges are pending. Anyone who witnessed this collision is asked to contact Traffic Services at 949-6300 ext 382.

Male Charged with Two Counts of Breach of Probation


A 47-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening. It is alleged that on the 4th of January the accused contacted an ex-girlfriend while on probation with conditions not to communicate with the female. It is further alleged that on the 5th of January the accused attended at the victim’s place of employment to speak to her while on a probation order prohibited him from attending at the workplace. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation.

Van Stolen From Driveway

Just before 11 pm last evening the owner of a van in the 100 block of Lewis Road called to report that the van had been stolen from the driveway. Officers on routine patrol spotted the stolen vehicle just before 1:30 am in the area of Wellington Street East and Pilgrim Street. The officers observed three persons flee from vehicle on foot. Other officers attended in the location and secured the area. Patrol officers were assisted by the Canine Officer and Police Dog Tazer, who successfully tracked the persons to a backyard on Herrick Street. A 14-year old youth, a 15-year old youth and a 16-year old youth were each charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The 15-year old was charged with one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be good. The 15-year old youth and the 16-year old youth will appear in bail court this morning. The 14-year old will appear in court on February 7th.


Break and Enters

Last night between 7 pm and 9 pm a residence in the 100 block of Adrian Drive was entered and an X-box, games and a leather jacket were taken.

A home in the 100 block of Panoramic Drive was entered between 7:30 am and 7 pm last night. Thieves made off with a number of video games and DVD’s.
