Male Youth with BB Gun Arrested:

A 17 year-old male youth was arrested on the 22nd of January at 11:25 pm on Gore Street and charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that at approximately 11:14 pm city police received a call from a witness that reported that he was driving in the Gore Street area when he observed a male youth standing in the parking lot of the Mac’s Convenience Store on Gore Street pointing a gun at persons passing by and then concealing the gun down the front of his pants. Police immediately attended in the area and located the male at the corner of Gore and Wellington Street and took him into custody without incident. Officers located an Air Pistol BB Gun inside waistband of his pants at the time of arrest. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested with Drug Trafficking after Warrant Executed at his Residence:

46 year-old Gerard Taylor of #106-94 Allard Street was arrested on the 22nd of January at 10:58 pm at his residence and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 22nd of January at approximately 11 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team and Canine Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of the accused and during the course of the search they located 59.6 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. The total street value of the drugs that were seized was $1,092.00. He is to attend in court on the 23rd of February.

Shoplifter Arrested:

78 year-old Aualsa Johnson of 264 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 22nd of January at 2:10 pm at the Northern Avenue Zellers Store and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 22nd of January the accused attended at the store and stole some make up. She is to appear in court on the 23rd of February.

Male Youth Charged with Mischief for Causing Damaged at Local Elementary School:

A 12 year-old youth was arrested at a local Elementary School on the 22nd of January at 11:40 am and charged with one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 22nd of January the accused was in an agitated state at the school and threw books around a classroom and then kicked a door breaking a glass pane window. He is to appear in court on the 24th of February.

Theft Reports:

Vehicles were entered yesterday and overnight in the areas of Birch Street, Queen Street East near Spring Street, and in the John Rhodes Parking lot. An iPod, a guitar amplifier, a pack sack with a Sutherland headset and a wallet were some of the items stolen.
